The Real Survival is After Surviving the Tragedy

The Real Survival is After Surviving the Tragedy

Mass shootings occur and those of us not directly affected by the tragedy typically move on just a few short days after the tragic event. Sure, we see recounts of the event for several days, almost non-stop, but then it starts to diminish and especially as news with high significance occurs.

We share our wishes and prayers to the victims and their families, post images of candles and flags at half-mast and share our opinion of the individual or radical group behind the shooting along with our stand on gun control and our feelings towards politicians doing too little too late. But what we don't read about and we're not aware of are the long-term effects survivors and their families go through on what is hoped to be the road to recovery.

The following article, linked below sheds some light on such a road to recovery and it breaks my heart to read what this survivor and her family are going through - and as you'll read, it's not been easy at all. One thing is for sure, it's all so unfair!

Paul, the article was difficult to read. Why, because it was so real, so heartbreaking and the truth of what so many others must be going through; or possibly even worse. But, it is worth the read to understand and though difficult as it may be, to try and relate as much as one can to such tragedy and to the reality that this tragedy continues to take place in the US and the world.
