The Real Superheros Of Our Times

The Real Superheros Of Our Times

We are all frustrated this past year with what has happened.

It has been an incredibly stressful year for everyone, COVID-19, economic, political, and mental health problems due to COVID-19.

We all thank those amazing heroes like the first responders, medical staff, grocery store workers, pharmacists, and others.

However, there is one group of people we forget to thank. They are probably the largest group of people out there. They don’t have any say on how anything works or is handled, though they continue to show they roll with the punches.

Yes, they have shown frustration and even had breakdowns, but they have bounced back.

OUR CHILDREN

They are frustrated, they are mentally and socially discouraged, this is not their fault.

But if we continue to talk with them, they will stay strong. In fact, they are superheroes.

No child in the history of children has ever had to do what they are doing right now.

No child in the history of children has ever had to do school at home, sitting in their bedroom, watching their teacher on a computer.

They are making history.

This was supposed to be temporary and here we are almost a year later.

Having this conversation with them is important and will help lift a weight off their shoulders. But not just one conversation, keep telling them.

We are not giving them nearly enough credit for rolling with the punches we should be proud of them and their and his friends. The kids this year are doing the impossible and they’re doing a really great job.

We’ve said kids are resilient, and they are. But they are the real superheroes in this whole scenario for having ZERO say in their lives but doing their best to adjust every day.

Take some time each week and put away the work and schoolwork and spend time with them. Watch a movie, play a board game, or better yet, have a conversation.

This is our home and I won’t turn it into a battleground anymore over something we can’t control. Something that no longer makes sense.

Hug your superheroes today and don’t forget to cut them the slack we’ve given everyone else.

This article speaks to my heart.? My 8 yr old autistic grandson, who lives me, has been such a trooper throughout this past year! He is homeschooled now as he wouldn't be able to follow the CDC guidelines because of his ASD symptoms and cannot do DL.? He, as thousands of other children, have been incredibly resilient and have been moving forward!? They are living proof of the kind of heroes they are. ?
