You’ve sent out hundreds—maybe even thousands—of resumes. You’ve prepped for interviews, researched companies, and practiced your answers. You’ve heard so many variations of:
And now? You feel exhausted, frustrated, and stuck.
You’ve probably found yourself wondering, What am I doing wrong?
I had a client who applied to 1,000 jobs and had 250 interviews—yes, 250—yet still didn’t land a single offer.
And she’s far from the only one who finds herself here.
I’ve worked with so many women who’ve been stuck in that painful cycle of rejection. It’s exhausting and discouraging.
But after diving deeper into their mindset, approach, and actions, they’ve been able to shift and finally land the roles they’ve always wanted.
Here’s what I’ve learned after coaching countless women through their job searches and from years of experience in corporate hiring:
?? Getting hired has nothing to do with having the perfect resume??
It’s all about mindset, self-belief, and trust in yourself.
When things aren’t moving forward, it often boils down to one (or all) of these 7 things as the real roadblock.
7 Reasons You Haven’t Landed the Job Yet
1?? You’re Stuck in Perfectionism
You keep tweaking your resume, rewording your LinkedIn, and overthinking every interview response—thinking if I just make it perfect, I’ll get hired. But perfection isn’t what gets you the job. Clarity, confidence, and clear communication of your value do. Stop self-rejecting before you even apply.
2?? You Have No Network
Hitting submit on applications is easy—but it’s also the least effective way to get hired. If you’re not building relationships, you’re missing out on opportunities that never even make it to job boards. Your network is your net worth.
3?? You’re Confused About How to Sell Yourself
You might have the experience, but are you clearly communicating why you’re the best fit? If you ramble in interviews or struggle to showcase your strengths, hiring managers move on. You need to position yourself as the obvious choice all while using the least amount of words to sell yourself with confidence.
4?? You’re Avoiding Discomfort
Rejection sucks. Following up after a job interview is uncomfortable. Reaching out to new connections feels awkward. But staying comfortable keeps you stuck. Growth happens when you step into discomfort and take bold action.
5?? You Are Lacking Self Belief & Self Trust
This one’s big. So many women tell me: I don’t feel qualified. I’m not sure I’m good enough. I don't trust myself. And that energy? It shows up in interviews. When you don’t trust yourself, hiring managers won’t either. When you aren't confident in what you bring to the table, the hiring manager won't be either. You need to act like the version of you who already has the job.
6?? You’re Not Taking the Right Actions
Scrolling job boards for hours? Not it. Rewriting your resume for the 20th time? Not it. What gets you hired is strategic action. That means networking, reaching out to the right people, and owning your value. Start with doing the thing you have been avoiding. Don't let fear drive your decisions.
7?? You’re Surrounded by the Wrong People
You are the sum of the five people you spend the most time with. So if your friends and family spend their day complaining about their boss, convincing themselves how hard it is to find a new job, and lost in their struggle story—you will be too. Surround yourself with people who inspire you, push you, and believe in your success. Your circle matters.
