Over the past few weeks I have spent time working with Craig Bryden from TertraQuark on developing their strategy aimed at achieving accelerated and sustainable growth. What blew my mind was the ease of access I had to clear concise data, making my life much simpler. When you can see the market, financial and operational data clearly presented in a logical format, it enhances the analysis and interpretation of the business information, thus supporting better strategic decisions.
Often, when I have work with companies on their strategy, so much time has been spent on gathering bits of information from all over the place, resulting in that we are left with less time for identifying and developing new strategic opportunities. Well, that is poor allocation of time and money. There have been many occasions where I have been left dumbfound trying to gain access to information that should be readily available, and all because the client does not have information on their own business. Info like daily sales, average spend, cost of delivery, last contact made and especially current financial status just are not readily available. I have worked with clients that have been operating successfully for a number of years, but fail to present statistical data or clear records on demand. Many still run their scheduling, customer data, billing information and even the likes of CRM off archaic systems and they have no central collection of the sales, operational and financial data. This increases the time needed to gather data and make sense of information, resulting in opportunities being overlooked and even errors being missed. Because let's face the facts; in today’s world, gut feel alone is simply not enough to make wise business decisions, recommendations or changes.
Irrespective of the type or size of the business that you run, you should be speaking to Craig to help you make sense of the data you have available, and allow him and his team to clean, collate and present the information back to you in such a way that you can be an empowered leader and make decisions that keep you ahead of the pack.
