Real Life: Between the Social Media Posts

A bare minimum of one night a week, I sleep less than 2 hours.

Here's a snapshot of "real life" for those feeling insecure scrolling from one success pontification post to another on social media.

Here's a secret: It's not all good all the time... and it's okay.

My sleeping habits aren't a source of pride because it directly indicates the need to improve on managing my brain and emotions. After all, I'm not being chased by a lion am I? Heavens no. But my body doesn't decipher between the two as I lay in bed with brain racing with what to do next, turbocharged cortisol levels trying to distract myself with an episode of Narcos on Netflix.

I know you'll find this shocking, but Pablo Escobar didn't have any advice to slow my brain down.

Positive Psychology Professional and close friend Nick Holton will read this and direct me to 7+ resources he's already mentioned. I got you Nick, I'll do it next time!

If you're struggling, here's what social media isn't showing you...

Sometimes it sucks. Sometimes you'll put on a smile and tell others "my startup is great". Sometimes you'll wonder what the hell you're doing. Sometimes you'll simply crash

And it's ok... you're not alone.

Without telling you what to do, I'm going to share with you my plan of attack for today as sleep avoided me last night.

I'll spend the day at my office working through things stressing me out. I'll most likely drink an amount of coffee that no doctor would ever recommend. At lunch, I'll take my dog to the dog park and eat a burrito with the shell on... maybe the extra carbs will help take me through the day.

My work won't be top notch and I'll find errors tomorrow... but I'm going to show up today because that's what I signed up for, because people are counting on me, and because when you earn the accolades of a successful entrepreneur... it was due to days like today.

3 years ago, I dreamed about having the "problems" I have now and I'm going to enjoy that fighting the urge to sleep. So many people have supported and sacrificed for me to have the opportunities I have today... my worries need to take a back seat to the love that surrounds me. For my wife who always concerned and adamant about my mental health. For that, I'll read the "Thank You" printed on my coffee mug and enjoy all parts of the ride. I'll just keeping going.

The only thing I can do wrong is STOP.

If this helped you, please message me... it'd make my day. Otherwise, send caffeine.
