The "Real AI Avicenna" Program: From the Human Brain to Causal Intelligence Machines
“The knowledge of anything, since all things have causes, is not acquired or complete unless it is known by its causes.” ―Avicenna, Psikologi Ibn Sina
Introduction
There are a few big techno-scientific futuristic programs and projects, from the US "Apollo Program", "Artemis Program ", and "Neom-Smart Future City " to the Big Tech "Artificial Intelligence" Programs.
We have advanced the "Neapolis-Smart EcoCity" (2010), the "I-World of Eco-Intelligent AI Communities, Cities and Countries " (2013), "Universal Technoscience Program ", and "Trans-AI: Machine Intelligence and Learning Program ".
These initiatives are complemented with the "Real AI Avicenna" Program, devoted to our countryman of genius, Abu Ali Al-Hussein Ibn Abdullah Ibn Sina, known as Avicenna. His father Abd Allah was born in Bactria, like myself having the similar name and born in the same area.
The idea of the "Real AI Avicenna Program" is to create an omniscient machine as Avicenna, a great polymath, philosopher and physician of the Golden Muslim Age (from the 8th century to the 16th century), contributing into astronomy,?alchemy,?geography and geology,?psychology,?Islamic theology,?logic,?mathematics,?physics, and works of?poetry.
As a fundamental solution, we integrate several fundamental concepts:
Reality = the world = the universe = existence = being > the Algorithm of the Universe = Causality = Causation > Naturality > Rationality > Law > Intelligence > Philosophy, Mathematics, Science, Engineering and Technology > Brain = Mental Reality: AI Technology
"Are we sure we want to continue to call 'intelligence' what intelligence is not?" Pope Francis
There is No Real Intelligence, Machine or Human, without the World Modeling and Reality Simulating and Universe Understanding Capacities.
The world model underpins and integrates all general or special models, such as mental models, conceptual models, scientific models, mathematical models or machine models, as AI/ML/DL models, with various special algorithms defining problem-solving operations, from automated planning to optimization algorithms to statistical and ML algorithms to quantum algorithms.
The best world models, as representations of reality or world representations or world simulation generally, enabled us to build our civilization, with its sciences and technologies, industries, infrastructure, cities and societies.
They help us understand our life and the world around us, guiding our perception, cognition, thinking, decision-making, or behavior.
The reality model theory of intelligence makes the fundamental assumption that intelligence, learning or reasoning, natural or artificial, depend, not on data or logical form, but on world models.
The world models are critical to think critically, rationally and effectively. As there is no complex human intelligence with its reality representations in the mind, there is no machine intelligence without its world simulations in machines:
Causal Machine Intelligence and Learning (MIL) = AI World Models [Reality Simulation Causal Engine]: Artificial Intelligence + Machine Learning + Generative AI + Large Language Models + Robotics + IoT +... Human Brain/Intelligence'''
The Iron Law of The Universe, Freedom and Free Will
Causality is of central vitality to the human or machine understanding of the world, despite the fact that many of us can find nothing to the notion.
Causality with Causation is all and everything reality, which true mapping, representation or simulation generally is impossible without comprehensive, coherent and consistent causal sciences, models, theories, algorithms, and technologies.
Causality is universal noumenon and phenomenon. Metaphorically, it is "the mother of all laws", while causation is "the universal algorithm of the universe", "the iron law of the world".
Nowhere in the world can there be any phenomena (state, change or process) that do not give rise to certain effects and have not been caused by other phenomena (state, change or process).
According to the Law of Universal Causation or Principle of Universal Causation, "everything in the universe has a cause and is thus an effect of that cause".
Or, "everything that becomes or changes must do so owing to some cause; for nothing can come to be without a cause". — Plato in "Timaeus ", c. 360 BC
In fact, "nothing can come to be without a cause", but humans, with our thoughts, beliefs, desires, intentions, decisions, and free will, the capacity of humans to make decisions or perform actions independently of any prior event or state of the universe".
No entity in the universe, but human beings, as self-caused things, could avoid the rule and governance of the iron law of causality, "condemned to be free" in their decisions or actions from "reality, causality and rationality, reason and intelligence, logic and meaning".
Again, as to the Iron Law, every thing in the universe is causally inevitable, but human decisions and actions, being freely irrational and illogical, random and sporadic, voluntary or optional.
It is only self-caused autonomous agents as human beings could have freedom from causal necessity, as the power or right to speak, act and change as one wants without restraints, associated with liberty and autonomy as "giving oneself one's own laws" and free will—the quality of being free from the control of fate or necessity,
Being by nature rational-irrational self-caused beings, with naturally limited rationality, humans struggle with reality, causality, naturality, rationality, logic, truth, facts and evidence, all at the heavy costs of numerous biases, prejudices, errors, untruths and evils, with all consequences.
We live in our own subjective realities or mental worlds, dependent on our minds (biases, perception, emotions, opinions, imagination, conscious experience, beliefs, desires, intentions, and free will).
The Brain as a Causal Intelligence Machine
Human actions are nevertheless determined, controlled and guided by our best brains, intelligence and intellect, which is encoding reality and its causality, making sense of the world.
The brain acts as a causal bio-information machine that controls thought, memory, emotion, touch, motor skills, vision, breathing, temperature, hunger and every process that regulates the human body, sending and receiving chemical and electrical signals throughout it.
It is responsible for receiving?and interpretating information?from the?sensory nervous system, processing those information (perception, thought,?cognition, and?intelligence) and the coordination of?motor control?(muscle?activity and?endocrine system).
It is neither a digital computer, nor biological computer, but rather a causal data neuro-mental machine, made up of billions of cells called neurons, acquiring information from the surrounding world, stores it, processes and integrates it in a variety of causal pathways.
The brain is the control and command center of intelligence, perception, memory, imagination, learning, emotion, thought, cognition, creativity, and action.
Composed of the cerebrum, cerebellum, and brainstem, it is the seat of intellect, interpreter of the senses, initiator of body movement, and controller of all functions of the body as well as actions and behavior, embodying the essence of mentality, the mind, soul or intelligence.
In humans, intelligence is commonly defined as the sum of mental capacities such as, abstract thinking, understanding, communication, reasoning, learning and memory formation, action planning, and problem solving.
It is about 5CI: cognizing, conceiving, classifying, concluding, communicating. all to effectively and sustainably navigate, adjust, interact with the world.

Intelligence has various theoretical approaches, such as psychometric, cognitive, biological, and developmental, unified by neuro-mental information causality exchanging matter, energy and information.
Intelligence is essentially Causal Intelligence and Reasoning as general intelligence (g), general cognitive ability, general mental ability, radiating as specific forms, abilities, skills, talents or multiple intelligences (e.g., Bodily–kinaesthetic, Spatial intelligence, Naturalistic, Musical, Logical–mathematical, Interpersonal, Linguistic, Intra–personal, Existential).
Thus, the brain is the causal information machine possessing mentality (intellect or intelligence, brainpower or mental power) to represent, understand and interact with reality.
Human Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence
The relationship of human brain and artificial intelligence is becoming "a matter of life or death" literally.
Paraphrasing Einstein, there are two infinite things in the universe, the universe and intelligence, and I am not sure about the world.
We could go for Real and True AI as Ethical Machine Intelligence and Learning Machinery modeling reality, simulating the world, understanding the universe, in all its complexity.
Or, as the big tech companies and their subsidiaries to be on a wild goose chase after an Unethical, Antihuman AI as a mimetic copy of humans, the human body, brain, brains, behavior and business.
It is marked by biases and discrimination, violations of privacy and human rights, harm, job displacement, no-accountability, mechanical intelligence, no-transparency…
All AI stakeholders – producers, educators, users, and casual observers – deserve to have a clear understanding of how AI systems works, operates and make decisions.
In all, AI has no commonly accepted definition, varying between general intelligence and multiple intelligences.
AI is technology that enables computers and machines to simulate human intelligence, its learning, comprehension, problem solving, decision making, creativity and autonomy.
AI is a set of technologies that enable machines or computers to perform a variety of advanced functions, including the ability to see, understand and translate spoken and written language, analyze data, make recommendations, reason, learn, and act, all as humans.?
It is based primarily on machine learning and deep learning, used for data analytics, predictions and forecasting, object categorization, natural language processing, recommendations, intelligent data retrieval, and more.
AI encompasses mathematics, computer science, data analytics and statistics, hardware and software engineering, linguistics, neuroscience, philosophy, psychology, etc.?
AI is as a series of nested or derivative concepts that have emerged over more than 70 years, such as machine learning, deep learning, neural networks or generative AI, a technology that can create original text, images, video, audio, code, and other content:
ML imitates human learning, where its various, special algorithms or techniques are used to make a prediction or classification, including?linear regression,?logistic regression,?decision trees,?random forest,?support vector machines?(SVMs),?k-nearest neighbor (KNN),?clustering, artificial neural networks,?etc.
The most popular AI/ML algorithms, neural networks are modeled after the human brain's structure and function, consisting of interconnected layers of nodes (analogous to neurons) that work together to process and analyze complex data, to identify complex patterns and relationships in large amounts of data.
Powering most of the AI applications, like large language models (LLMs) in our lives today. deep learning using multilayered neural networks, called deep neural networks, designed to simulate the structure and functions of the human brain.
LLMs are a set of statistical algorithms, with no causal modeling and reasoning capacities, with all the consequences, intended and unintended.
The "Real AI Program" aims to endow the artificial AI, ML, DL, ANNs and GenAI with the world modeling, reality simulation, universe understanding and causal reasoning capacities to have the real AI, ML, DL, ANNs, GenAI, and LLMs.
The Future of the Human Brain
Whole brain emulation (WBE), mind upload or brain upload or mind copying or mind transfer or brain simulation are subjects of AI, ANNs, strong AI, digital neuroscience or neuroinformatics.
It is done either by copy-and-transfer or gradual replacement of neurons. In the case of the former method, mind uploading would be achieved by brain scanning, neuroimaging or brain imaging, "thought identification" or mind-reading. Map a biological brain, and then copy, transfer, and store that mental information state into a computer system.
Brain simulation involves both modelling neurons' electrical and chemical properties to map a human brain, a connectome, "neural circuitry database", thought of as its "wiring diagram". This effort is pursued by the Human Connectome Project, sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), to build a network map of the human brain in healthy, living adults.
Human Brain Project created a Brain Simulation Platform (BSP), which is an internet-accessible collaborative platform designed for the simulation of brain models.
The mind uploading is supposed to provide a permanent backup to your "mind-file", to enable interstellar space travels, and to survive a nuclear war or other global disaster by making a functional copy of all human minds/neurodata in supercomputers.
A brain-computer interface (BCI), neural-control interface (NCI), mind-machine interface (MMI), direct neural interface (DNI), or brain-machine interface (BMI), could be used as communication devices to upload your mind to a 100 billion-core chip or the AI Internet, like Neo having a plug put in the back of his head to jump into virtual reality.
Or, from the data the AI collects from your social networks, Facebook and Whatsapp, Google search, etc. it can reconstruct your mind, depending on how intelligent it is. The copy of your mind would not contain your “self”, it would not be you, but it would be exactly like you.
