The Impact of Prolonged Demonstrations.

During extended protests, the anguish imposed on the most vulnerable members of society, especially those living in slums, is deeply distressing. Regardless of the state of the economy, slum dwellers suffer the harshest blows during these times, for it is in these very moments that criminals seize their chance.

During such chaos, the vulnerable in society become prey to darkness. Thugs prey upon the weak, slumlords unleash goons to evict struggling tenants, and rapists lurk, targeting innocent women and girls.

In the slums, people's hopes hang by a thread, relying on daily meagre wages to survive.

But when these demonstrations arise, they are trapped, unable to step out and earn a decent living. Trapped in despair, they reluctantly resort to accepting political handouts, setting off a vicious cycle that spirals into lawlessness.

While comfortably seated in our homes, observing the events unfold on our screens, it's crucial to remember that those on the frontlines of the battle against the escalating cost of living have no alternative. The fight engulfs them, engulfing their lives, whether they embrace it willingly or not.

We cannot stand idly by, oblivious to their struggles. Imagine the mother who cannot reach your doorstep to tend to her household chores or gather kiosk supplies from the market. Picture the man confined to the slum, unable to seek casual work for fear of being branded a protester. By the second day, hunger looms large for many, toiling each day simply to put food on the table.

We have the ability to bring about change, to extend a helping hand and support these families in their moments of need. Together, let us break the chains of adversity and offer hope and support for we know firsthand the challenges they face.

Once a slum dweller, now an advocate for change.
