Most people think that real estate is this flashy and luxurious industry, where deals and dreams are made. Buying a house is part of the Australian dream and it’s on most people’s life bucket-list.
Yes, this can be the case for clients.
Dreams are realised and there are many happy moments, supporting people with their property moves (particularly securing their first home). These are the moments that motivate us as real estate agents.
However, there’s also another side to real estate. I call it the three Ds:
People have to make real estate decisions after losing a loved one, ending a marriage, and struggling with debt. This is the more human side to real estate that requires a different level of client care.
While many agents are more interested in record results and luxury homes, we believe this is tone-deaf to the more sensitive, intimate reasons why someone might need to sell or buy a home.

Real estate is an emotional transaction. Even in the best of situations it’s emotional. We don’t shy away from this or paint an idealistic picture of the industry, because that’ll only add to the stereotypes in our industry.
