Real Estate can be a very lucrative career or an expensive hobby

If you’re just getting started, or need a refresher, remember to always be learning your trade and how to add value. Far too many people get into the Real Estate business thinking it's going to be a walk in the park and are disappointed that results didn't just fall on their lap.

Real Estate is about building relationships and themore people you build relationships with, the more you can help achieve their Real Estate goals.

Being a Real Estate Broker or Agent is more than simply putting a for sale sign in the yard, opening doors for buyers, and creating home searches online. Many consumers think this is all we do or what they perceive our value to be. What do consumers truly need from an agent?

Our true value looks more like this:

1) Understanding and explaining the contracts and disclosures the state requires for a Real Estate sale. There are many legal forms that need to be completed and you should be able to explain them all to your clients. Keep them out of court. 

2) The art of negotiation. You’re helping your clients sell or buy a large asset, maybe the biggest one they’ll ever own... learn how to negotiate the best deal for them and fight in their corner.

3) Understand the market and trends. There is so much data available to us that we should be educating our clients on the current state of the market and where it has been so we can better position them to outperform the competition.

4) Quarterbacking the transaction. There are many people involved in one transaction. Sellers, buyers, listing agent, selling agent, lender, title and escrow, home inspector, pest inspector, roof inspector, appraiser, underwriters, processors, just to name a few. Our job is to make sure this machine is constantly moving forward and effective communication is taking place.

5) Communication and emotional support. There is a lot that goes on during a Real Estate transaction and communication is key to keep a client well informed and happy. It also can be an emotional roller coaster for them, so it’s our job to ensure that they feel they have a professional in their corner.
