Real culprit Is not you Its your brain

I’ve had my fair share of failures in the past, and they often left me feeling stuck and directionless. Through deliberate effort, I discovered a life changing solution using micro habits. By implementing small, consistent actions, I built a system that not only put my life on the right path but also helped stabilize my mental health.

Decided to share it all with you.

As I researched for my book, "Silent Revolution: The Subtle Art of Micro Habit Mastery," I uncovered the real reason behind so many of our excuses and fails, it’s our brain. It resists change because of how we homo sapiens evolved. But the good news? We can work with our brain to achieve anything we set our minds to.

The brain is like a stubborn toddler

Have you ever wondered why it feels so hard to try something new or stick to big goals? It’s not because you’re lazy, it’s your brain doing its job. Your brain loves routines and is wired to conserve energy, which is why it keeps you in your comfort zone. That’s its survival mechanism, protecting you from expending unnecessary effort.

But here’s the flip side: that same brain can be "tricked" into doing what you want.

How? Micro habits.

Micro habits are tiny, manageable actions so small that your brain doesn’t even notice a shift. And here’s where the magic happens, your BASAL GANGLIA, the autopilot system of your brain, steps in. The basal ganglia plays a huge role in forming and storing habits. Think about brushing your teeth or tying your shoes, you don’t consciously think about these tasks anymore. That’s because your basal ganglia has encoded them as automatic behaviors.

Micro habits take advantage of this system.

When you repeat a small action consistently, the basal ganglia records it and transforms it into a habit.

It operates through a simple habit loop:

  • Cue: A trigger that starts the habit.
  • Routine: The action itself.
  • Reward: A positive result that reinforces the habit.

Over time, these micro habits carve new neural pathways in your brain, a process called neuroplasticity. At first, your prefrontal cortex (the conscious decision-making part of the brain) is more active because you’re learning something new. But as the habit becomes automatic, the basal ganglia takes over, making it effortless to sustain.

What’s incredible is that this same brain, which once resisted change, now supports it by strengthening those new neural pathways. This is how small, consistent actions lead to massive, sustainable progress.

Big goals don’t require big leaps. They require small, deliberate steps, steps so subtle your brain doesn’t fight back. And before you know it, you’ve tricked your mind into becoming your biggest cheerleader. That’s the power of micro habits.
