Listening is the Key

Real Biz Dev

Self-development and business development go hand-in-hand; or else one stunts the other.

?

Usually we think of self-development and?business development as taking long hours, costing an arm and a leg, and requiring lots of hard work.?LISTEN…Till You Disappear?demonstrates another way. (https://tinyurl.com/bddptu7n)

?

Lifting, moving, building, and changing things in the external world does take time, money, and effort; but growing your business is an inside job. It just requires hearing what you really want, how to serve those around you, and the optimal way--given your native powers--to attain these things.

?

What you’re listening for shapes your reality. This is why it’s important to discriminate in your listening between?

?

  • what others say you should do <versus> what your heart of hearts truly wants
  • ?what others think they need <versus> what they really need
  • ?the time-consuming, expensive and labor-intensive way to attain these things <versus> the optimal way to attain these things

?

Real Biz Dev begins with clearing your head, not just once but regularly, through breathwork, conversations with accountability partners, meditation, or a walk in the woods. It’s important that you start to hear yourself like an instrument blending with the whole orchestra of life around you. Hear that you already possess all the power you need to attain everything you want.

  • ?Practice hearing how everything that has happened in your life is integral to the process of learning how to succeed.
  • Listen for how you are already connected to all the resources necessary to achieve everything you want.
  • Enjoy the advantageous harmony for your fulfillment out there in life.

?

Whether you use the LISTEN method or any other, business development is always (first and foremost) about relationships. In fact, growth in?Connecting with people?

  • Communicating authentically
  • Sharing trials and celebrations?
  • Listening for deeper relatedness?

is the key to growth as a human being in any domain of life.

?

  • If you allow your ego to be in charge of developing your business, it’s going to look like this:Doing lots of things
  • Proving yourself
  • Long hours
  • Competition
  • Stress

…in short, a heavy lift.

?

Quality relationships—on the other hand—create the long-term synergy necessary to produce more than your current solo capacity. Only in relationship—mutual advocacy--can you address how both you and the people around you are all going to get what you need to be productive and happy.

?

Which are the most satisfying and productive relationships? They are the relationships in which you can be yourself. Real Biz Dev is about getting real with yourself…and then others. Listening to your own thoughts will not tell you who you are; your head is full of voices you’ve heard on tv or read online, self-analysis and comparisons, regrets, worries, admonishments from parents & teachers, dream encounters with celebrities.

?

  • Listening to your own thoughts = egoism, which separates you from…People (Really hearing others requires losing your personal agenda,?which is always about fixing something, contributing something, getting somewhere, filling a need, or making yourself/them feel better; whereas having no agenda means that there’s nothing to fix, nothing to contribute, nowhere to get to , no need to fill, no way either of you should feel.)?
  • Resources (As long as you’re thinking you’re not good enough, you won’t avail yourself of help, proper technology, or the kind of community/connections you need.)
  • the Present Moment (the only place results ever happen)

?

Notice how blissful it feels to clear the mind? That’s because stress is a mental phenomenon, sourced by all of those influences we mentioned above. Outside the mind, in reality, there is no such thing as stress. When the mind is clear you connect to what is.

?

I remember when my business first started to take off. I was suddenly inundated with paperwork, correspondence, and scheduling issues. I complained to my coach, “But now I’ve got to hire an assistant to handle all these administrative tasks.” His perspective was, “That’s what a growing business looks like when it’s doing well.”?

?

Listen to connect with what works, what flows naturally, what would happen of its own accord, were you not thinking it should be otherwise.

?

We will continue with this theme in the next newsletter. In the meantime, I invite you attend the workshop on the technology of listening, which I will be holding next Wednesday April 13th, at 12p PT in the context of More&More’s Coaches Corner. Here’s is the link to register for free:??
