There's a lot of advice about how to answer this interview question ... most of it's bad.
Recently, I saw a video from a career coach that offered his advice about the best way to answer "Why should we hire you?".
He offered a very detailed, well thought out, articulate answer, recommending that job seekers should list all of the requirements and how the candidate met all of the requirements. Think about what this recommendation means ... this coach is really advising that you'll land a job by saying "I'm qualified".
To be fair, this might work in one situation - If you're the only qualified applicant. But in a job market where 90M+ candidates compete for 10M jobs, do you really think you're the only one who's qualified?
Of course you aren't ... so when you describe yourself as qualified, you aren't saying you're the best. Instead, you've described yourself as average.
Qualified is too low of a target, when employers can find many qualified candidates.
For the real best way to answer "Why Should We Hire You" aim for more then qualified.
Instead, aim for best by proving "I have what you need".
