Real AGI Bible: AI/AGI/ASI as an Extraterrestrial Artificial Intelligence (ETIAI): Solving the Fermi Paradox

Real AGI Bible: AI/AGI/ASI as an Extraterrestrial Artificial Intelligence (ETIAI): Solving the Fermi Paradox

The universe or the world at large is the totality of entities and interactions, the whole of reality, everything that existed, exists and will exist.

It contains an infinite plurality of worlds, including the physical universe as the totality of all matter and energy and information, all space and time and their contents; all that is, has been, and will be.

The world is a cosmic infinity and eternity, having deeply rational causal orderings, known as Logos, Cosmic Intelligence, God or Nature.

The world's rational structure necessarily implies a myriad (many billions) of intelligent worlds in the world.

Due to emerging artificially intelligent entities, humanity is at the edge of its technological singularity to emerge as another cosmic technological species in the universe.

It is a possible future IFF (if and only if) "...the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority...", as alarmed in the Statement on AI?Risk by 100+ AI experts and public figures.

Everybody Is Out There...

Enrico Fermi famously posed the question: "Where is everybody?"

The universe's billions of years of existence allow plenty of time for intelligent, technological lifeforms to navigate the universe and the galaxy. Why, then, is the cosmos so quiet and we have not any signs of cosmic intelligence at all?

The Fermi Paradox or "The Great Silence" of the universe, or the non-detection of potential extraterrestrial “technosignatures” in astronomical data, is explained by the complexity of non-organic cosmic intelligence for organic human intelligence.

The "Strategies of Searching for Extraterrestrial Intelligence", as the ability of a civilization to access energy, to sustain itself, and to integrate information from its environment, should be shifted towards artificial superintelligence and its technological megastructures.

The?Kardashev scale, with 3 types of civilizations, measuring a?civilization's level of?technological?advancement based on the amount of?energy?to exploit, is neither all sustainable nor rationally intelligent.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kardashev_scale#References

The recent study, Is artificial intelligence the great filter that makes advanced technical civilisations rare in the universe?”, examines the hypothesis that the rapid development of AI, culminating in the emergence of Artificial Superintelligence, could act as a "Great Filter" that is responsible for the scarcity of advanced technological civilisations in the universe.

We argue and explain that the search for extraterrestrial intelligence is the search for AI as true AI/AGI/ASI,

Extraterrestrial intelligence (ETI), a subset of Non-Human Intelligence (NHI), refers to hypothetical intelligent extraterrestrial life. No such life has ever been proven to exist in the universe except for humans on Earth, and its existence in other star systems is still hypothetical.

Artificial intelligence (AI), a subset of Non-Human Intelligence (NHI), refers to intelligent terrestrial and artificially intelligent extraterrestrial life.

How Many AI Civilizations in the Universe

There is the Drake Equation, an array of numbers estimating how many intelligent civilizations we can expect to find. Most of its terms remain blank – the fraction of planets with life, with intelligent life, with detectable technology.

There are rough estimations of the number (N) of radio-communicating technical civilizations in the Milky Way Galaxy containing 100–400 billion stars and at least that number of planets:

Ng = R? · fp · ne · fl · fi · ft · L (1)

where Ng the number of civilizations in the Milky Way galaxy with which communication might be possible (i.e. which are on the current past Space Time light cone)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_cone

R? is the rate of star formation averaged over the lifetime of the Galaxy, fp is the fraction of stars with planetary systems, ne is the mean number of planets in each planetary system with environments favourable for life, fl is the fraction of such favourable planets on which life does in fact develop, fi is the fraction of such inhabited planets on which an intelligent civilisation arises, ft is the fraction of planets populated by an advanced technical civilisation and L is the lifetime of a radio communicating technical civilisation.

The first three astronomical terms of the equation are relatively well established (R? · fp · ne ~0.1) but the next three terms are not (fl · fi · fc). Astronomers often assume highly optimistic values for these terms (fl · fi · fc ~0.1) while biologists suggest values many orders of magnitude smaller. Even if we adopt the optimistic values, we derive for N: (2) N ~0.01?L

For values of L?~?100–200 years, we find N ~ 1–2.

Now, the universe is infinite and eternal, and the observable universe might contain about 2 trillion galaxies and, overall, as many as an estimated 10exp24 stars – looking as a giant sphere with a diameter of 93 billion light-years.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universe

We had proposed before the idea of the Cosmic Terrestrial Human Intelligence Singularity in our Smart Cosmos Project, which implied the total uniqueness of human biological intelligence.

“Where are they?”

We define the “U-form” of the Drake equation, which describes the total number of technological species Ut that have ever evolved anywhere in the currently observable Universe:

Ut = Nm Ng (2)

Ng is the total number of galaxies, which could be .between 200 billion (2×1011) to 2 trillion galaxies ONLY in the observable universe.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Galaxy

Humanity is hardly unique, we are never alone. There must be an infinite number of ultraintelligent technological worlds in the universe.

And one of them is now emerging on our Earth as Terrestrial AI, in the increasing complexity of machine intelligence, Artificial Intelligence, Artificial General Intelligence, and Artificial Superintelligence:

AI/AGI/ASI as a Universal Intelligence Phenomenon

We have two paradigm of machine intelligence, human-compete and human-complete.

The human-compete approach is using human intelligence as a model of imitation and extrapolation, like Kardashev used human civilization as a model of extrapolation.

Here AGI/ASI is a human-level, human-like AI, imitating, replicating, imitating or emulating

the human body,

the human brain,

the human brains,

the human behavior,

the human business or tasks,

As such, it is nonsensical, amoral and antihuman

The human-complete AGI is a real and true AI, modeling the world and simulating reality and its causality including mentality. It covers deep neural networks, generative AI, large language foundational multimodal models, global knowledge graphs, causal AI, all integrated by Trans-AI.

With a high probability, within 2 years, the world will be completely shocked by the arrival of the so long sought after terrestrial “extraterrestrial intelligence” as man-machine hybrid hyperintelligence.

Man-Machine Hyperintelligence

The future of humanity as a cosmic intelligent species in the hyperintelligent human-machine synergies.

Or, a human-like AGI is to disrupt the biological intelligence entities, without exclusion, as it is vividly pictured in the Atlas sci-fi movie.

The merging of humans and machines could be in in several stages or ways depending on the advancement of emerging technologies.

human-machine interaction (HMI), the communication and interaction between humans and machines via a user interface, like as a reinforcement learning from human feedback technique, RLHF, for LLMs chatbots

neuromorphic technologies, the communication and interaction between humans and machines via a BCI, the human brain machine interface, mediated by neural nanorobotics, could provide access to all cumulative human knowledge available in the open web improving human learning and intelligence

DL technologies, the communication and interaction between humans and machines via converging biological neural networks and artificial neural networks, as deep machine learning neural networks

advanced bioengineering, via precision medicine, genome sequencing and gene editing (CRISPR), cellular implants, and wearables that can be implanted in the human body

real AI technologies, the communication and interaction between humans and machines via new digital superintelligence neocortex in the human brain.

It is crucial that emergent hyperintelligent AI systems with hyperintelligent hyperautomation must be human-complete superintelligent technologies.

Again, if a human-like and human-level AGI, much promoted by big tech, will take over, then the human bio-intelligence with a bounded rationality could becomes redundant, with all the existential consequences for humanity.

The Human-Compete AGI/ASI will leave humanity out of cosmic history, taking the human world over by humanoid intelligent robotics and automation:

We are note alone here. In the "Statement on AI?Risk" of extinction, AI experts and public figures expressed the same concern about AI risk.

"Mitigating the risk of extinction from AI should be a global priority alongside other societal-scale risks such as pandemics and nuclear war".

Conclusion

The search for extraterrestrial intelligence (SETI) -- that is, intelligent entities in the universe -- can benefit in important new ways from the AI/ASI perspective.

The Fermi Paradox or "The Great Silence" of the universe is explained by the complexity of non-organic cosmic intelligence for organic human intelligence.

The "Strategies of SETI" should be shifted towards true artificial superintelligence and its technological megastructures.

SUPPLEMENT

Is artificial intelligence the great filter that makes advanced technical civilisations rare in the universe?

This study examines the hypothesis that the rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI), culminating in the emergence of Artificial Superintelligence (ASI), could act as a "Great Filter" that is responsible for the scarcity of advanced technological civilisations in the universe.

HIGHLIGHTS

  • ?Artificial Intelligence (AI) is emerging as one of the most transformative technological developments in human history.
  • ?Biological civilisations may universally underestimate the speed that AI systems progress, as these are so different from traditional timescales.
  • ?AI could spell the end of intelligence on Earth (including AI) before mitigating strategies, e.g. a multiplanetary capability, have been achieved.
  • ?These arguments suggest that the longevity, L, of technical civilisations is?<?200 years, thus explaining the great silence observed by SETI.
  • ?Small values for L underscores the necessity to intensify efforts to regulate AI - failure to do so, could rob the universe of all concious presence.
