Ready to take on Poland? Don't miss this!

Recently, we chatted with Serfy CEO Povilas Vytautas Dudonis , a digital marketing and IT expert with over a decade of experience. He discusses the reasons behind his decision to move to Poland, the timing of the move, and his future plans and aspirations. Read on for more information.

Interviewer: Thank you for joining me today. I wanted to talk to you about your recent decision to get more involved in Poland. Could you tell me a bit about why you decided to open a development center in the Tri-City?

Povilas Dudonis (PD): We have been interested in the Polish market for a few years now. Initially, we had planned to start our activities in the third quarter of 2020, but due to the pandemic, we had to shift our plans. Still, we were drawn to the Tri-City and Pomerania region because of the conditions created here by Maverick Nation and Invest in Pomerania as well as the availability of suitable VCs', the growing real estate market, and its geographical location.

?

Interviewer: As I understand it, this is a part of your plan to Scale via Poland. What kind of operations will your company be pursuing in Gdańsk?

PD: Poland and Western Europe will be our main focus markets, but we also intend to build a development center. So this might be a fitting time to mention that we are looking for experienced Python and JavaScript developers, as well as SaaS salespeople.

?

Interviewer: Can you tell us a bit about your headcount for the development center, both in your short and long term plans?

PD: In the short term, we plan to start with a team of three people. Once we have a better understanding of the market and the political and economic environment is more stable, we plan to hire 15 people over the next three years.

?

Interviewer: I need to ask, why did you choose to come to Poland with Scale via Poland not a grant program like Poland Prize?

PD: It was an easy choice for us. The two most helpful things that Scale via Poland provides us are access to clients and a support network of experts and service providers. Additionally, the program's focus on helping #startups expand their operations internationally aligns well with our goals. Overall, we simply felt that the Scale via Poland was the best option for us to take our startup to the next level.

Interviewer: Do you have any other plans for expansion in the Tri-City region before you move West?

PD: Yes, we have been working on multiple products and plan to continue doing so in the future. If the Tri-City proves to be a viable option for tech startups, we might even consider moving our headquarters to Poland and developing SaaS products there.

?

Interviewer: Can you tell us a bit about your company and its competitive market advantages?

PD: UAB Serfy was founded five years ago as a spin-off of a software development company. We specialize in the development of Serfy - a task management platform for effective business relationships. Companies in industries such as building maintenance, HVAC, and retail can use Serfy to directly connect their technicians with their clients, streamlining the task management process and improving response times and communication.

Our advanced reporting, custom templates for each service, and automated workflows make us stand out on the market.

As an employer, we offer a fast-paced, self-disciplined work environment for motivated and driven individuals who want to make an impact.

?

Interviewer: Thank you for sharing, hope we can talk again soon about Serfys’ progress.

PD: It will be my pleasure.

Povilas chose Poland as a stepping stone on his way to global expansion.

In your opinion, is this a good strategy - gaining traction in a medium market before moving to big ones like Western Europe or the US?
