Ready, steady... action

2023 has just kicked off, and your team will be bright-eyed and bushy-tailed and excited to start the year, but how long will that drive and motivation last?

In my own life, I've found that the moment I'm in a program with accountability I accomplish a lot more. Why is that? When you are in a program there are set dates and times that you are committing or paying for. This means that you get into a rhythm, whether it's an exercise program, a dance class, an eating plan, or a coaching program. There is also accountability with your guide or your trainer if it's a group setting with the group.

When I'm in an exercise program I book my 3 appointments a week, get reminders and get myself into the zone to go exercise. The program is designed, and there is a skilled trainer that takes us through the steps and corrects our posture, but who also motivates us along the way by doing the routine with us.

In the same way, if your leaders or team want to further engrain their learnings or drastically move toward their goals this year, consider a 3-6 month coaching program. This journey is highly successful because change can happen as slowly or quickly as you want it to happen. But knowing that you have a coach and a guide available, in your dairy makes all of the difference.

Here is a case study of a High-performance team that I did Team development work with, and then coupled with a 3-month coaching program.

Some of the areas that this group individually focussed on were:

  • how to motivate and inspire their team
  • how to have a positive mindset
  • bringing energy into a meeting
  • time management (streamlining tasks and getting the most out of my day)
  • getting along as a team
  • rebranding their personal brand
  • communication -understanding things from the other party's point of view
  • conflict resolution and not taking offense
  • giving and receiving feedback
  • building their confidence
  • developing public speaking skills and ways of interacting with an audience

Dr. Hennie Swanepoel

My goal for the coaching journey was to focus on my own rebranding. I wanted to be more approachable and create realistic expectations with my co-workers. Ever since the coaching I have definitely improved in clear communication. I've found Yoke's coaching to be very helpful and dynamic.

Estee Fourie

I wanted to improve the teamwork of our team and my way of interacting with the team. I wanted to stop getting upset when I felt that I was treated unfairly and to increase my empathy. I have truly learned not to take negative feedback personally, to boost my co-worker's status and to allow for autonomy. I've found the coaching to be very helpful and found Yoke as a coach to be very pleasant, easy to relate to and trustworthy.

Louise Wahl

I wanted to develop my public speaking skills and grow in my confidence to ensure that I get buy in from a group. I found the coaching very helpful in my personal growth and finding new and better ways of interacting with an audience while doing a presentation. I will definitely recommend her as a coach if you want to reach your goals, and found her to be very friendly, energetic and willing to share her experience, expertise and information with us.

Laetitia van Rhyn

My goal for coaching was to function better in the workplace. I managed to work on my time management, how to streamline processes and how to deal with difficult situations and conflicts. I found her coaching and training to be very helpful, especially to understand other people better. I recommend her coaching, especially for dealing with conflict and in your job. I really enjoyed the sessions.

What has your goal or objectives been for your coaching sessions? What did you want to work on and improve on?

How to have meaningful sessions and input from my team. How to approach meetings differently....establish other parties' intentions. How to have a positive state of mind going into meetings.

What have you learned or applied since the start of these sessions?

How to establish opposite parties' intentions. Tips on how to enter meetings with a positive state of mind. Tools to use when/how to have an interactive session with my team.

How helpful was coaching to you, your personal growth, and growth in your career, relationships, and developing skills?

Very helpful. I tend to focus on the work that needs to be done, and lack /forget to inspire the team which is ultimately necessary to meet the goal. Yoke was able to pinpoint/name shortfalls through situations I described and provide me with possible insight, tools, and ways to address these.

If you are looking at ways of drastically improving your leaders and teams for:

Confidence, having a growth mindset, improving their influence, and finding their flow.

On another note... do you want more Media interviews for 2023?

In case you missed it, I interviewed an Award-winning Journalist and Media trainer Liezl Thom that provided such gems if you want to pitch for more media interviews for 2023.

? What are some ways in which a business can pitch for TV/ radio interviews?

? Which of the media forms are currently the most valuable? And why?

? As a journalist what is your aim when you interview someone?

? How can the (interviewee) help you during the interview or prepare?

? If there are a lot of cameras and lights at a media interview-where should you be looking?

? What dress code would you recommend for TV?

? When you get interviewed for radio/tv from your home-how can you set yourself up for success?
