Ready to Start a Stylevolution?
I’m not one who’s into New Year resolutions especially when they restrict me (Tell me I can’t eat something and that thing I’m supposed to not eat is all I crave!), or ask me to do something I really don’t want to do. (The rebellious kid in me suddenly appears, and she doesn’t want to budge an inch.)
I like a resolution that supports me in my goals whether the goal is personal or business…or something I want to improve in myself but haven’t made a firm commitment to schedule “me time” into my calendar to help reach that goal.
But that’s just me. I understand taking on resolutions of all sorts, with the caveat that: “As long as it’s good for you.” I also believe that resolutions should stretch you but also be attainable. Not eating an entire bag of M&Ms or pint of ice cream every single time you’re stressed out is probably a really good resolution. But my suggestion would be to add something good in it’s place - say, a piece of really good dark chocolate so you don’t feel like you’re denying yourself chocolate all together.
It’s a new year. Is it time for a new you? Corny I know. But it doesn’t have to be. Let me explain.
What I do love about every new year is that we all get to look back on what we loved and didn’t love from the previous year - what worked, and what didn’t work. Before your mind starts to think about what I just said, for this write, I’m talking specifically about “style.” :)
“Stylution”: A few years ago this word meant coming up with some creative “solutions” for “style” challenges. I had some fun with it and so did my readers.
This year, because I’m in the mood and I feel it is needed, I’m changing the spelling to give it a new meaning…a deeper meaning, that actually has a double meaning.
“Stylevolution”: 1)This is when you execute a dramatic movement in the way you develop your authentic style. A style evolution. 2) This is a no-holds-barred, take no prisoners attitude; A style revolution of sorts.
Get my drift?
A “Stylevolution” may rock your world, and for some of you this may be too much. But I’m going to encourage you to go for it. You have nothing to lose; only more of a connection to your authentic style to gain.
It’s work.
It’s not for those who think style is superficial. It’s definitely for those who think style can be a spiritual experience.
You may be thinking, “Whoa, Michelle! How can style be a spiritual experience?”
“When one is dressed in their authentic style, the style and the spiritual, meld, and one feels a profound sense of connection to oneself.”
If that isn’t “Spiritual Style” I don’t know what is. It is something that I strive for when I get dressed. Because when I nail it - my outfit that is - my spirit soars and I feel like I’m on top of the world. My confidence rises; I feel powerful. My outfit becomes my armor, my safety net, my power partner, my sense of security.
If your style isn’t doing that for you, I think it’s time for a “Stylevolution,” don’t you?
So…how do you go about starting your own “Stylevolution?” Hang tight. My next newsletter will give you all the details on how you can go deeper into discovering your authentic style. I’ll share with you a system I have used that has helped me to evolve my style to where it is now. As we age, evolve in our political, social and economic positions, so does our style because we need our style to reflect, and support those changes. That's why one's personal style is always a work in progress. Since we are continually growing and transforming, it is also a system that I revisit once a year. And I can’t wait to share it with you.
Happy New Year!
