Aspects to consider to do a successful job search:
Networking
- Reach out or connect to people
Self-care
- Focus on taking care of yourself
Tips to help you get ready to rock the job search in 30 days:
Week 1:
- Find people who are in their dream job.
- Spend the whole time just sending connection requests or having those coffee meetings or having those video calls with people.
- Gain information from people and learn how they got to the roles.
- Think about the worst-case scenario and also just get used to rejection. If you get used to rejection, you can build up resiliency. So the more you practice it, the more resilient.
- Sit down and think about what factors make you unique and be ready to share that.
Week 2:
- Show how you’re the perfect candidate for the job.
- Find that job you’re interested in. Print it out and then go through each bullet point in taking the language from it and place it on your resume.
- Reach out to people you’ve chatted with on week 1 to build a good relationship with a person who is already in the job.
- Set a goal and give yourself a reward every time you achieve it.
- Surround yourself with persons who are going to uplift you.
Week 3:
- Have a free range of questions. Ask them with somethings you want to know.
- Share about yourself on what you do and then let the person you’re meeting with, really lead that conversation.
- Treat interviews like a normal conversation and gather information about each other.
Week 4:
- If you’re not hearing back within a few weeks on your resume, make sure you’re getting support from people who hire for a living and getting advice from recruiters.
Final Tips:
Work on your resiliency. It can be really difficult to go through the job market and to continually get rejected or not hear back from people. So, work on baby steps. Start messaging on people on LinkedIn and not your back. And then, once you also start hearing back, that’s going to build up your positivity, so recognize that. You will find a job. People do find jobs and during the process that can be difficult, so find ways to take care of yourself. Go out for walks, make sure you eat healthy, have a support system that you can rely on and really take care of yourself. I think that self-care that only spending two hours a day on a job search and that other six hours on self-care during or eight hours a day is important because that’s what’s going to matter and when you get an interview, to want to show up and be healthy and be in a good state of mind.
