Whitaker Center Seeking VP of Development

Whitaker Center for Science and the Arts is currently looking for their next Vice President of Development. This executive position directly impacts the success of Whitaker Center and programming for Central Pennsylvania youth through business-to-business outreach and fundraising. Whitaker Center is looking for a creative and collaborative leader to take on this role.

?The Vice President of Development is responsible for the complete administration, management, supervision of staff performance and operations of the development department that includes:

  1. Leading and managing annual gifts, grants, planned giving and corporate sponsorships
  2. Managing donors
  3. Soliciting contributions/funding from individuals, foundations, companies and the government sector

?Core responsibilities of the Vice President of Development include:

  • Overall direction, operation, coordination, and evaluation of the department, including the preparation and execution of a comprehensive fundraising program aligned with organizational goals and objectives encompassing a donor database and recognition program, proposal preparation, case statements, grant reports and planned giving.
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit major donors in coordination with members of the leadership team, the President and CEO, members of the Board of Directors and other volunteers.
  • Supervise the retention of donor files necessary to accurately record and manage all gifts and pledges to include timely notification to donors with gift acknowledgments and pledges due.
  • Provide planning to include budgets and supervision of reports on the status of donor contributions and pledges.
  • Coordinate with appropriate staff to obtain sponsorships for Whitaker Center and its programs.
