Ready to be a Lifestyle Entrepreneur?

Firstly, what is a Lifestyle Entrepreneur? Home businesses have been around for many years, but until the growth of the internet, they had many limitations. Today, people can start and run a worldwide business from the comfort of your home…or the beach…o This has led to the rise of the lifestyle entrepreneur.

An individual that creates a business with the purpose of altering their personal lifestyle and not for the sole purpose of making profits. A lifestyle entrepreneur focuses more on the life rewards provided to people that enjoy and have a passion for what they are doing. There is a possibility that the business will do particularity well since the individual has a passion for what he/she is doing.

My name is Patrick Mauser, and I’m the founder and CEO of Asian Franchise Academy. I have decades of experience across various franchise sectors and have had the opportunity to work with inspiring international and local brands across many markets, business owners and some of the finest mentors and business consultants from around the world.

I’d love to take you on a journey and share some industry insights on how to set up a successful business. The most essential elements of starting any business are passion, inspiration, absolute determination, and taking the opportunity to speak to franchise and consulting professionals who can guide you in the right direction.

Is Being A Lifestyle Entrepreneur For You?

Being a lifestyle entrepreneur is about turning your interests and passions into products and services that serve others and support a lifestyle of freedom and opportunity.

It is about learning what you need to know, to do the things you love to do, so you can ultimately be the person you know you can be.

The way I see it, the world is both your playground and your potential addressable market. Technology and the internet have evolved to such a place where you can literally structure businesses in such a way that they can be run from anywhere in the world with little more than a laptop and an internet connection.

This is not to say that you can just *snap* your fingers and create a new business out of thin air. Of course not. However, the learning curve and the barriers to entry for aspiring entrepreneurs have never been lower, and they continue to fall. Technology innovation and the advent of software-as-a-service (SaaS) allow for businesses to be structured virtually.

This reality has dramatic implications: It no longer matters where you are!

The important question then becomes >> “Where do you want to be?

I have processed invoices deep inside the Thai Jungle whilst spending 4 weeks in the ''lonely house'' (but that's another story), and I have coached clients via videoconference from Chiang Mai after exploring Buddhist temples around the city.

As a lifestyle entrepreneur, where you are, who you’re with and what you’re before and after making your contributions simply doesn’t factor into the equation.

What does matter is:

  1. Having something people want,
  2. Knowing where they are and how to offer it to them, then
  3. Fulfilling on your offer and making them satisfied customers and clients.

But before we get too deep into the business side of lifestyle entrepreneurship (and I have plenty to say on that), it is important to first look at the lifestyle side of the equation.

Lifestyle design begins by identifying the things you are interested in and passionate about and envisioning a life in which they are at the forefront of your day-to-day activities, not relegated to hobbies and things you do “when you have the time”.

I am excited to share with you a number of tools, tactics and strategies to help bring more clarity and purpose to your life and, if I do my job right, inspire you to pursue your passions to a greater degree, leveraging them into businesses that support a lifestyle you can be proud of.

So, whether your dream is to study Thai in Thailand (and I live here since 8 years) and run an online business, or to travel SE Asia on motorcycle learning Chinese and sourcing products for clients back home, the important thing is to own that dream. It is yours. Don’t let anyone else tell you it’s silly or unrealistic. Get excited to prove them wrong, and to have fun and learn a lot in the process!

I am excited to share the lessons learned from my first 8 years after launching Asian Franchise Academy.

My hope is that you begin taking action towards achieving your dreams. And that you start today.

Travelling the Road of a Lifestyle Entrepreneur

This journey of becoming a lifestyle entrepreneur is a lot like driving down the highway at night. Your headlights are on and you can see what is 1,000 feet down the road. But beyond that it is just black.

I hosted my first ''learn about franchisng'' seminar in Bangkok in 2012. With the first course fully booked, I soon realized there are many opportunities throughout Asia and so, Asian Franchise Academy was born.

Today, we are in Africa, the Middle East and Canada and have plans to replicated AFA in Europe, Latin and South America.

Intuitively you know that if you keep moving, more of the road will come into view and you’ll eventually see signs, giving you direction and orienting you to what is coming next.

But if you stay still, staring out just as far as your headlights allow, it is easy to trick yourself into thinking that there is nothing worth seeing out there, nothing worth going for.

That is the trick, you just have to start down the road. As you begin defining and designing a lifestyle that would light you up, then inevitably you’ll see signs pointing you in the right direction. People will come into your life that are attracted by the fact that you’re taking action, and opportunities will arise that you would not have otherwise seen.

And as you continue on, integrating what you learn along the way, the experiences you gain and the lessons you learn become cumulative. The distance you’ve travelled is the extent to which you’ve pursued the life you truly desire, and the friends and partners you meet along the way will be some of your best.

“Learn what you need to know, to do what you love to do, so you can be the person you know you can be. That is the journey of a lifestyle entrepreneur on the road to mastery!”

And this is important!
