Ready to grow a garden for your health?
It's mid-summer. We're over half way through 2020 - and what a year it's been (maybe the understatement of any year in recent history?).
I ran across an idea that I wanted to share.
Grow a garden.
You might be a seasoned green thumb, or maybe you're sure that all plants would die a horrible death under your care. In either case, it might surprise you to learn that interacting with growing things and good, rich dirt can have health benefits.
- Gardening can build self-esteem.
- Gardening is good for your heart.
- Gardening reduces stress.
- Gardening can make you happy.
- Gardening can improve your hand strength.
- Gardening is good for the whole family.
- Gardening can give you a boost of vitamin D.
- Growing your own food can help you eat healthier.
In this article, internal medicine Dr. Robert Hutchins, explains how even a tiny garden can yield mental and physical health benefits!
If you need some ideas for setting up a tiny kitchen garden in pots - one that will take up very little space - here's an article that talks about five herbs that you can grow in small pots right on your patio or maybe even on a windowsill.
I hope these ideas reach you at a good time to try something out and tell me about it, but really I wanted to check in and say hello.
