It's been a minute since I've shared an installment. I'm here to get back to it!
Life has an interesting way of reminding you what's important. In mid-December, I got word that fathers of two close friends had passed away within a day of each other. Both attended the same college. Both went to medical school and became doctors in the DC area. One of them served in the Navy before medical school and he will be buried at a future date at Arlington Cemetery. The memorial service of the other occurred yesterday.
It has been bitter cold in the DC area. That didn't stop many from paying their respects to a doctor who lived a fruitful life of 88 years. He and his wife were married for 64 years. They raised 5 children, the youngest of which has been a close friend since first grade. He loved to tell a story and always made the time to be involved in the extracurricular activities for his kids. He loved basketball, golf and photography. On separate occasions, he administered CPR to save the lives of three people. He was an accomplished pianist which came as a huge surprise to all in attendance.
The reception was an opportunity for many who hadn't seen each other in a long time to share our fond memories. These gentlemen have been friends for decades. I've been fortunate to be part of the purchase and refinancing processes for many of them. P.S. the pointer figure is a trademark for the red-haired gentleman in the back who ironically isn't doing it in the photo yet others took his cue.

I think about people contemplating buying a home now. Will rates get better? Will home prices come down to make it more affordable? Will waiting actually make it easier to buy? All legitimate questions for sure and time will tell what the answers are.
Here's what I will share for those thinking of buying. If you can afford to do now, do it. The closing remark from the oldest son's eulogy was pointed and endearing:
"Ready to go? Let's go!"
There will never be a perfect time to act. Imperfect action is better than no action. The best first step is seeing what's possible in buying a home. I'm convinced that today's buyers will thank themselves in the very near future for taking action now.

1 个月Outstanding post Chris. Not surprised that these folks have turned to you for their financing needs. Thanks to you, I was able to purchase my first TIC with John, Tim, and Scott (and that wasn’t a simple transaction, yet you stuck with us) Your long relationships with these gentlemen have been fruitful!
