Ready To Discover The Power Of A Good Story

Ready To Discover The Power Of A Good Story

Since ancient times, we have been delighted in the power of storytelling.

What an epic discovery!

Storytelling has been used to connect, engage, inspire, impact, influence, heal and create a brighter future. Sadly, it was and still is also used to threaten or destroy that same bright future. But today, more than ever, stories are the essential building block of empathy and human connection.

Stories are a communal currency of humanity. ~ Tahir Shah, in?Arabian Nights

Today, I am focusing on the extraordinary power of storytelling through the narratives?from the women's perspective of empowerment, struggle, joy, resilience, innovation, and leadership.?

Data is everywhere. Information is everywhere due to today's highly digitized world. It is so easy for leaders and organizations to be overloaded with data and information. They become distracted from what's valuable to their mission and their people. One impactful way to add more value and insight to quantitative data is storytelling. When we refocus our attention and the importance of human communication, we build deep relationships between people and ideas.

Great stories give shape and emotional response to the raw data while making them come to life. They convey so much about the culture, history, experiences, and values that give us a deeper understanding of the personal and professional experiences of the people we work with or do business with. How great is that!

There is no greater agony than bearing an untold story inside you. ~ Maya Angelou

Deep down, everyone has a unique, powerful story to tell that we all can learn from regardless of our backgrounds and upbringing. We find some of the most hidden treasures and golden nuggets in places we least expected when we dig deep.

Today, I am sharing one of the most powerful stories of my life to connect better and add value to you and your organizations.

Recently, I was asked to tell my story on the top 1% podcast in the world, Tell Us A Good Story, with remarkable hosts,?Kevin Mason, MBA, CPA?& Stephanie Mason (FACT: currently, there are over 2 million podcasts globally).

From all stories I could tell, what story should I tell? Luckily, Kevin and Stephanie were clear about what story they and their audience wanted to hear - my refugee story.

Million questions and thoughts came to mind, ranging:

  • How dangerous is it to escape a country during the war?
  • Where do you go as a refugee (a new unknown identity)?
  • What happens if a government denies you entrance (what are your rights)?
  • How long does it take you to get to your final destination (safety, permanent residence, freedom)?

A journey that often has more questions than answers.

Talk about living on the edge for years!

Sometimes reality is too complex. Stories give it form. ~ Jean Luc Godard

With what is going on around the world, as we are experiencing the fifth pandemic, the war in Europe, and the wars in other parts of the globe, these realities are too complex for many to accept or understand, and to do something about it.

Luckily, speaking with exceptional storytelling masters and receiving a bit of great advice from Joe Serio and Kevin Mason, magic happened.

What and how exactly, you can hear exclusively here on Tell Us A Good Story, with?Kevin Mason, MBA, CPA?& Stephanie Mason.

What is a good story that you would like to tell? Please share in the comments below.

I love the fact that you referred to the war in Europe as the 5th pandemic. The whole world indeed is affected. Lovely post as always. Izabela Lundberg, M.S. I would love to tell the story of my educational pursuit, in a country where education is not given much attention, it takes guts and will to survive. My story can be made into a movie, because it is impossible to write everything down here.
