EUROPEAN ALUMINIUM
European Aluminium, founded in 1981 and based in Brussels, is the voice of the aluminium industry in Europe.
Welcome to European Aluminium's newsletter! Each month, we'll take a closer look at our top policy priorities for the new legislative cycle. Come along as we explore how these 5 priorities can support the aluminium industry's strategic role in shaping a resilient and net-zero future for Europe.
Aluminium is a strategic raw material in the green transition, powering clean technologies from electric vehicles and solar panel frames to high-voltage cables, energy-efficient buildings, and sustainable packaging. This positions our sector as a cornerstone of the EU energy transition. Our aim? We want to team up with policymakers to lay down the groundwork for a resilient, environmentally conscious and globally competitive European aluminium industry, ensuring Europe continues to benefit from locally produced, sustainable aluminium. Our Director of Public Affairs & Communications, Giulia Forgnone , outlines our 5 key policy priorities for 2024-2029 in the video below ??

A DEAL FOR THE INDUSTRY OF EUROPE
On 20 February, we, together with 70+ companies, industry associations, and organizations, signed the Antwerp Declaration for a European Industrial Deal. This declaration expresses the urgent need for an Industrial Deal, which goes hand in hand with the European Green Deal, aiming to drive innovation, sustainability, and economic growth in Europe. What do we have in common? The Antwerp Declaration and the European aluminium industry's top policy priorities both advocate for an industrial strategy aimed at fortifying European businesses, promoting circular products, advancing clean technologies, and achieving targets for domestic raw material capacities. They stress the significance of affordable and cost-effective green energy solutions and legislative frameworks to promote decarbonisation along with securing stronger trade defence measures against unfair practices, particularly from non-market economies. The Antwerp Declaration reflects a shared commitment to driving sustainable growth and competitiveness in Europe's industrial sector. ??
