What does HR want when hiring Product Cost Engineers? Here's a quick summary.
According to recent polls conducted by SPCEA with our followers, the preferred academic qualifications for cost engineering positions revealed that:
71% of hiring managers favor candidates with engineering degrees, particularly in disciplines like electrical, mechanical, and industrial engineering, due to their strong technical foundation.
20% of respondents preferring candidates with diverse skill sets including a combination of engineering knowledge with business acumen also considered valuable (and possibly including MBAs).
Degrees in finance and business alone are less preferred, highlighting the importance of a technical background in this field.
