Reading - A Never-Ending Love Story
I am passionate about reading! How did this come about? I credit my deceased mother for planting that love for reading in all her children, all seven of us. Holding a book in hand and sniffing the wonderful scent of a new book....aaahhhh....who can relate? That doesn't mean I am opposed to owning secondhand books. I am so down for that!
I recall the first books that grabbed my attention as a young child: The Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton and countless others by her, The Nancy Drew series by Carolyn Keene, The Famous Five....I can go on and on. At that time, I read books according to authors. Now that I am older, it's a different story altogether.
I now read any and everything that grabs my attention. It could be an autobiography, a work of fiction, anything that has a story that draws me in. I recently completed reading Trevor Noah's first book. It was hilarious but so eye-opening!! I loved reading about his experience in growing up in South Africa. I am so glad he explained how he came about to speaking various languages. As someone who loves languages myself, I loved reading how his love began.
I don't know about you other readers but I also love reading more than one book at a time. The only way I can explain it is that some days I just need light reading, other times, I need something intense. Both pleases me!
If you come across this article, please share your earliest memory in reading or feel free to recommend some books. Whatever happens, HAPPY READING!!
