A Reading List on Inclusive Economic Entrepreneurship

On Friday, March 6th, I will be speaking to economic development student's at the Harvard Kennedy School in a special economic development seminar. The topic will be on inclusive economic development and entrepreneurship ecosystems. Here is the pre-reading list the organizer pulled together for the students. For those interested, these are some pretty good overview articles that touch on inclusivity in ecosystems building and entrepreneurship.

Pre-Reading materials for this session:

1)     “Building Entrepreneurship Ecosystems in Communities of Color” – Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City & Opportunity HUB

2)     “The Importance of Inclusive Entrepreneurship Ecosystems” – Dell Gines article in 2019 State of Main, the annual publication of Main Street America 

3)      “This underfunded female demographic is launching the most start-ups in America, far from Silicon Valley” – CNBC

4)     “Black Women Business Startups” – Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City – Executive Summary (pages 5-6); rest of report is optional

5)     “2019 State of Latino Entrepreneurship” – Latino Entrepreneurship Initiative at Stanford Graduate School of Business – Executive Summary (pages 4-6); rest of report is optional

6)     “The most entrepreneurial group in America wasn’t born in America” – Inc. Magazine

2)     Start Us Up: America’s New Business Plan – website and whitepaper with federal, state, and local policy recommendations developed via Kauffman Foundation with a goal of elevating entrepreneurship as a policy platform for 2020 Presidential election
