Since the start of last year, I took it upon myself to read one interesting book every week with key focus being to touch on wide range of subjects that let me gain new knowledge while being enjoyable to read.
I plan to keep this blog post updated as I keep reading the books with a small description on why this book is a read
Understand how everything began and how Humans as a species reached their current position. Excellent book that touches on multiple subjects written in a easy to read language
Seth Godin’s book complies his life advise into one single book that gets you on pace on everything that one needs to know about Marketing to get their business up and running. Highly recommended read for anyone starting up
A must read book to understand everything about Evolution, detailing on how life began and evolved over ages on earth. The book will open your mind to lot of new ideas that may feel little hard to agree but on contemplation, you will find it hard to disagree on points raised
Recommended read by multiple people, claiming it as one of the best Sci-Fi books. An engaging that focusses more on how life will be once Humans become multi-planetary species, dealing with multiple complexities that make this novel believable.
A must read for anyone and everyone as this gets you to think on what it takes to design a good product, teaching you the conceptual framework on how to develop good products. This book is recommended for even those not in product development as every decision one takes is a design decision on how things need to be or need to go about
Understand how to actually develop a mentality for intra day trading. Loved the way the author explains lays out simple rules on how to develop the skillset for those keen to develop this into a full fledged career or serious to earn extra income
One of the finest business memoirs I read so far. Highly engaging read that teaches on one multiple lessons on innovation, commercialisation of new technology, cost management, team management while keeping you on the edge of your seat as you understand on how some of the iconic flights were designed.
A multi biography story on some of the smartest people who developed systems that rule the current financial ecosystem. The book presents on how maths began to rule the world of Wall street and how the current system of Hedge funds, financial engineering came into being.
A great book to let people develop the idea of probabilistic thinking, which lets everyone make better decisions while avoiding some of the pitfalls that entraps everyone. Recommend to make notes as you read this book as you will certainly want to refer to the ideas multiple times in the future
I have always loved the concept of multi-planetary human civilisation but rarely wondered on how we can actually go from now to there. This book set up the ideas on how it can happen. The book is grounded in fundamental ideas already well known, so helps you gain idea on latest development across multiple fields.
A brilliantly written book that is truly hard to put down. The story of one of the biggest fraud in recent time that went for over a decade really puts things in perspective on how FOMO and success makes fool of some of the smartest people, who fail to even adhere to simple compliance checks. A perfect example of survivorship bias so prevalent today where we fail to realise that even big failure do mostly what successful people do.
Since reading Sapiens, I have become a big fan of Yuval's writings. His books always opens my mind to new perspectives, clearing multiple dogma's engrained into our minds since long. Reading his current book, actually got me to look at the multiple issues that we face daily in a completely new angle and delivering a jolt to so many areas of life I took for granted. Once again, his books are hard read for conservatives, so needs one to keep a open mind but gains you get will make you feel much better by the end of the book
Cancer as a diseases always intrigued me as the impact it has on those suffering and their family is pretty intense from the stories I have come across in media and survivors recount of their ordeal. This book provides you with a historical background of the struggles that people had overcome over the ages before we arrived at the current situation. The book can be painful as you understand the struggles that cancer recipients had to undergo and how the current success we enjoy were such hard fought. After finishing the book, I could understand that every success we enjoy is not due to a doctor's or researcher's breakthrough but the risk and death that cancer patients underwent so that future generations can fight better
Ever since I finished reading The Selfish Gene, the topics of Gene's intrigued me and picked this book after solid reviews. This book has not disappointed me in any aspect as it broke down such a complex topic that I had no knowledge into such simplicity that it spelled me to not stop reading. The book traces the journey that we had as we humans started decoding the stuff of life and how it impacts. Once done reading the book, you will be amazed at the human ingenuity but at same time alarmed that we are stepping into a new domain that can fundamentally impact on what it means to be a human. Genetic engineering is a word that many would have read about and once you are done with this book, you will understand at the fundamental level what the term signifies.
