''I would like to read books or maybe, need to inculcate the habit of reading, but alas! I do not have the bandwidth.''
''My schedule doesn't allow me to flip through books. Even if I will try. I won't be able to practice regularly.''
"I guess Reading & I ? Maybe Not Possible!''
Statements which I regularly hear from professionals whenever we discuss how the habit of reading can benefit all of us in our growth process.
Hence, I thought of sharing ways to develop the habit of reading for professionals. The intent is not to propel the habit but to make it a part of our lives.?
First,?
Each of us may have a diverse objective to develop an interest in reading. The objective can be acquiring knowledge, improving communication skills, or merely relishing the process of reading. And for some, it can be all.
1. The recommendation is to comprehend the specific purpose to develop the habit of reading. The clarity of purpose will eventually help us in selecting the genre of books we may get interested in.
2. We must read to comprehend the context of the books, hence it will help us to apply the learnings in life.

3. We can set a time limit of 10 to 15 mins for Reading. Don't be in the hassle to complete the book in a short period. Take your time and read at your convenience whether it is every day/ alternate days or at weekends
4. Try to highlight or underline the relatable content. It may support you to put the context to your learning. It is said that when we try to put the learnings into an application, it generates interest in reading
5. Always analyse the genre/ kind of books you would like to read. To begin with, select a small book of a specific kind like self-development, and then pick the second book of a different genre like fiction or, and further. This way you’ll able to understand your interest or genre.
6. Set Targets while reading. For example, complete 20 pages and then don’t go further, rather go back & flip through the marked or highlighted content again to put the context into it and try to apply it to learn in life.
7. Analyse how reading is helping you to develop & build perceptions. Also, If a particular book is not relatable for you, then don’t force yourself to continue with that. Rather, take a break from reading for a while and pick another genre afterwards to keep the reading habit intact.
8. Choose a Reading Time that fits your schedule?
9. Don’t be rigid with your purpose of reading. It may get changed with time.?
Happy Reading!
