Reading human books, ROI of happiness at work, & I want to know!

Reading human books, ROI of happiness at work, & I want to know!

How would you like to read humans?

Last weekend, we hosted the second chapter of Read Beyond Books where participants read other humans as books. Mostly all of them found this exercise enticing and their experiences were worth listening to.

Imagine doing this with your colleagues as well. No matter how much earlier generations have tried to establish the difference between personal and professional life, in today's work-life integration setup, knowing people's strengths and weaknesses, their liking, and their passion helps in a professional environment.

Here's a gist of our last event at Go Native Sadashivnagar.?

1 concept to absorb

ROI of happiness at work

Forward-thinking businesses are increasingly recognizing that happiness translates into tangible business outcomes which impact the bottom line. And there's a strong reason for that. Apart from the fact that -

  1. Happier people are more productive
  2. Happier people are healthier people
  3. Happier employees stay longer

Researchers such as Fred Luthans and his team at the University of Nebraska are developing financial modeling methods to estimate the value happier employees contribute over time.

For example, micro-interventions that develop psychological resources by increasing hope, optimism, confidence, and resilience have been estimated to reap (conservatively) 2% annual returns, realizing $585 million in revenue in the average mid-sized business, and far higher value in retention of A-list employees.

There are 3 factors that we consider when it comes to happier employees.

  • Sense of welcome
  • Sense of purpose
  • Sense of wellbeing

And to get the best understanding, we have a number of questions for the leaders/founders and HR professionals.

Sense of welcome -

Do our people experience enough positive emotions? Do we provide opportunities for them to laugh and enjoy themselves?

Do our leaders know how to create a positive emotional climate that engages people and makes them feel happy about coming to work?

Sense of purpose -

Do we focus on what we are doing well and can do better than what is wrong?

Do we enable people to play to their strengths? Are people in roles that suit their strengths and allow them to be appropriately challenged and grow?

Do our people understand the purpose of our organization and what we stand for? Do we strive to make work meaningful day to day?

Sense of wellbeing -

Do we identify and reward those individuals and groups who dare to go against the norm and exemplify positive behaviors and excellence? Do we learn from and support them to increase their positive influence?

So, if you think, your organization has a scope of increasing the ROI by implementing happiness at work programs and initiatives and if you believe it's the end of an hour, get in touch with us.
