Celebrate Pride Month with RHD
Happy Pride Month from RHD! Pride Month honors the history, culture, and contributions of the LGBTQIA+ community. RHD’s Morris Home, the nation's only residential recovery program offering comprehensive services for the transgender and gender-expansive community, will celebrate Pride with several events this year. On May 31st, a Morris Home participant joined a Pride flag-raising event organized by Philadelphia’s Office of LGBT Affairs. On June 30th, Morris Home will host a fundraiser during a class at Monarch Yoga at 171 W. Berks St. in Philadelphia.
MCIU Director Leads Coordinated Effort to Rescue Woman in Crisis
On May 16th, a remarkable act of compassion and teamwork unfolded in New Orleans. Tyesha Davis-Rhodes, RHD's Director of the Mobile Crisis Intervention Unit (MCIU), led a life-saving intervention that showcased the impact of coordinated crisis response. The incident began when a family member called 911 about a 21-year-old woman at risk of suicide. Tyesha collaborated with other community members to resolve the situation and ensure the woman received the necessary help.

Christine Gibson Peer Support Staff Advocate for Mental Health in Harrisburg
On May 15th, the staff of RHD's Christine Gibson Peer Support House (CGPSH) attended House at the Hill Day for Mental Health at the state capitol steps in Harrisburg, PA. The staff took part in a rally and march to advocate for more mental health funding and increase awareness of mental health initiatives in PA, as part of Mental Health Awareness Month. CGPSH aims to reduce justice involvement for people with mental health illness by decreasing their length of stay in jail or in a hospital, minimizing reincarceration, and improving connections to services.?The program offers residents the opportunity to be empowered and guided by Certified Peer Specialists who have lived experience with mental health illness, substance use, and/or legal system involvement.
