“Read My Lips”: Consider a “Communicator” Mask

We all support the wisdom of wearing a mask in public during these COVID-19 days. One of the challenges of masks is that people cannot see the bottom half of your face. Are you smiling? Are you pouting? Or, are you trying to talk? We guess based on each others’ eyes. Yet, while we are reasonably good at it, we are not perfect.
What if someone is hearing challenged? People who are hard of hearing read lips to understand another person. How can they read lips if your mouth is covered? The truth is, we all read lips to some extent, even though we may not be aware of it.
Enter the “Communicator” Mask. The Communicator Mask has a clear plastic window over the mouth area so other people can see you smile and better understand what you are saying.
So, we tried it. The first time we wore ours outside, people commented enthusiastically about the new masks. Many people asked where to get them (there are many styles on Amazon). At the very least, the new mask communicated to people that we want to be more approachable and friendly despite being masked. Smile!
