Gough Recruitment
Specialist Recruiters for the Real Estate, Property, Development & Construction markets.
The recruitment market is changing with the economy tightening and the labour market shifting.
Due to the tough economic conditions, the second half of 2022 saw a significant dip in new jobs across several markets. Over the next year, we should see a lessening of intensity in the war on talent as available jobs decrease due to inflation and a slower economy.
However, when we look at the applications per job in each market, we have observed an increase in average applications, due to less jobs available.
In terms of employee benefits, wages, that have increased significantly over the last two years, will start to soften due to the increase in inflation and less available jobs. We have also started to see a decrease in work from home flexibility being offered, with businesses wanting to return to a pre-pandemic model. Ideally, businesses need to create a balanced policy that allows for some flexibility or they may lose staff.
