U.S. Rep. Mike Flood, R-Neb., and Democratic State Sen. Eliot Bostar of Lincoln hope to lure out-of-state law enforcement officers to Nebraska by promoting a new state education benefit aimed at their kids. The two lawmakers on Tuesday emphasized state efforts to encourage more law enforcement officers to consider relocating to the Cornhusker State, where Flood and Bostar say the general public still respects their work.
U.S. Congressman Mike Flood announced his office will hold Military Service Academy Days in Norfolk and Bellevue. This is an opportunity for high school students to learn more about the application process to become a commissioned officer through one of our country’s five service academies: the U.S. Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, and Merchant Marine Academy.
"Almost two decades ago, the advent of the Renewable Fuel Standard led to an economic revolution in rural Midwestern communities. Biofuel plants popped up across Nebraska, Iowa, South Dakota and other states. Good-paying jobs came with them along with private sector price support for one of America’s most important commodities."
