IMPLEMENT: Turn research into action.
Frustrated that the interventions and progress monitoring resources for older students tend to focus on limited comprehension, one reader emailed in last month looking for more resources to support her students. Providing Reading Interventions for Students in Grades 4-9 from What Works Clearinghouse (another purveyor of truth) provides research-based recommendations to support older learners.
VISIT: Interact with the science of reading on a whole new level
If you're one of the hundreds of thousands flocking to our nation’s capital for a summer vacation, we have just the museum for you! Planet Word is an interactive museum dedicated to the power of words and language, offering immersive exhibits that inspire a love of literacy and storytelling. With advisors like Sally Shaywitz and Mark Seidenberg, you can trust the museum's strong commitment to advancing the science of reading. This spring, Emily Hanford began a two-year residency with the museum and will facilitate?dynamic public dialogues addressing low literacy in America. If you can't visit in person, check out their website to stay abreast of their great content.
