Read This Before You Send Your Manuscript To Your Editor!

Before you send your manuscript to your editor, ensure that you've dotted your I's and crossed your T's.?

Don't assume that your editor may fill up the hole for you.?

You paid for editing and not for the writing of your manuscript.?

Hence, your editor can draw your attention to that part of your manuscript that needs to be properly developed.?

Though, not all editors have the time to spot unanswered questions in manuscripts.?

Some might not even realize that your manuscript is undeveloped.?

The first time I worked with Adedolapo Ebadan , she brought to my attention that I needed to further develop my manuscript and resend it afterward.?

Nancy Legacy also pays attention to details and she'd tell you if your manuscript is ready for editing or not. She will point out to you those aspects that need to be developed.?

I've also worked with another editor who edited one of my manuscripts and yet she didn't realize that I asked a question that I didn't answer in the manuscript.?

After she had finished editing, she sent back the manuscript.?

Even though I read through the manuscript immediately after it was sent back, I still didn't spot it myself.?

I spotted it after I reviewed the manuscript several months later.?

Thank goodness I didn't rush to publish the book.?

It would've hurt to realize that I gave my readers half-baked content when they're supposed to enjoy every bit of it.?

It's their right. I'm not supposed to deprive them of that because of rush, rush.?

When I stumbled upon that question that wasn't answered in the manuscript, I got caught up in the web of what to do since it had undergone editing.?

After all the back-and-forth thought process, I decided to take the bull by the horn, by going over to rework the manuscript to ensure that I diligently answered all the questions raised.?

And then, I forwarded it to another editor. Of course, that made me pay more.?

Don't ask me if I was angry.?

The mistake had already been made and so I had mixed feelings. I didn't know if I should blame myself or my editor, so I allowed it to die down.?

When you have a desire to rush your book writing process simply because you want to be called an author soon, you might not do justice to your topic.?

You may deliver a low-quality or shallow book.?

You've completed your first draft.?

Bravo!?

I celebrate you.?

Hence, a first draft isn't enough to do justice to that topic.?

Calm down!?

Don't rush your book writing process.?

Don't rush to send your first draft out for editing, then, to publishing only to realize after the book is published that it didn't deliver as it should.?

I know that you have the opportunity for a revised edition, but slow down!?

Allow it to sit for some time. Revisit it and ensure you've written a masterpiece.?

A book that won't keep the reader wondering why s/he bought it in the first place.?

Give it some time.?

You don't birth excellence in a rush.?

Ensure that you've properly dotted your I's and crossed your T's.?

So that when you hold the book yourself after it's published, you'll be proud to tell yourself, " na correct man or woman na em you be,"?with a glass of wine for a toss. ??

Cheers to book writing success!
