READ THIS BEFORE YOU PAY FOR WEBSITE DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

I’ve worked with four clients over the past year who have new websites they hate. And in every instance, they overpaid for the website.

Because there are so many top-notch website design and development companies out there, this boils my blood.

Plus, I hate to see good people get ripped off or projects dragged out for no reason.

True story:

I met one client nearly a year ago. She had just signed a contract with a web designer/developer. He (rightly so) said that he needed copy first. I wrote the copy and handed it off to him last summer.

And then he stalled on design and disappeared. She hired someone else to finish it this past winter.

Her new website is still not live. I am so angry on her behalf.

In fact, I think my blood pressure went up just typing out her story.

And yes, you are correct that I am not a website designer or developer. Heck, you do NOT want me to do any design. I know great design when I see it, but I have ZERO graphic design skills.

So what makes me an authority on website design and development when I can’t even create a dang website?

Writing website content means I spend a lot of time working in and on websites, typically along with a designer, developer, and/or SEO expert. And because I write content that is helpful for the website’s visitors, I also know what they are looking for in a good experience.
