Reaching for the Next Version of Yourself

Reaching for the Next Version of Yourself

Ready to dream a little bigger this week?

If you joined me on Friday, you’ll know I kicked off some thoughts around the power of "one more", so this week I'm going to follow that theme with a series exploring and expanding the idea of “one more dream”. I'm inspired by the concept that sometimes, all it takes is one more dream, one more goal, or one more step to create lasting change, so I'm diving into different areas of life where just one more dream can spark new growth. I feel that this idea is especially meaningful because life is about constant evolution, and even the smallest dreams can move us forward.

And isn’t that what journaling is all about? Creating change however and in whatever area we wish. Journaling allows us to shape our journey intentionally, to explore not just the paths we’re already on, but the paths we want to create. Each dream we write down, each goal we revisit, has the potential to inspire momentum, to encourage us to think, “What if one more step could make all the difference?” When we put our dreams to paper, we’re giving them life, allowing them to grow and become more real with every word.

Today, we’re starting with the theme of personal growth—dreaming of the next version of you.

This week’s series will include:

  • One More Dream for Business Innovation – exploring how one more dream, idea, or shift in your approach can breathe fresh life into your business, helping you reach new heights with creativity and purpose.
  • One More Dream for Health and Well-being – imagining a healthier, more balanced version of yourself and looking at how small changes can move you toward a state of vitality and peace.
  • One More Dream for Financial Abundance – dreaming of financial freedom and exploring what it means to pursue abundance with purpose, whether that’s investing in yourself or pursuing a long-term financial goal.
  • One More Dream for Impact and Legacy – reflecting on the impact you want to make and the legacy you’d like to leave behind, with actionable steps for building a meaningful contribution.

Each day, we’ll dive into one area where one more dream can ignite change, helping you connect with that inner vision and take steps toward making it a reality. Ready to dream a little bigger this week? Let’s dive into personal growth today!

Why Personal Growth Matters

Personal growth is about becoming the best version of yourself, and yet, it’s easy to reach a point where we feel “good enough” and stop pushing ourselves to improve. There’s a common tendency to settle—whether it’s because we genuinely believe we’ve reached our potential or, on the flip side, because we doubt we’re capable of more. Sometimes, “good enough” is where we stay because it feels comfortable and familiar, but deep down, we know there’s a next level we haven’t yet explored.

But imagine having one more dream for your personal growth, a vision that sparks curiosity and inspires forward movement. This isn’t about pushing toward perfection; it’s about evolving in a way that aligns with who we truly want to become. When we dream of one more step toward personal growth, we open ourselves to discovering new strengths, learning fresh skills, and cultivating a mindset that allows us to break free from self-doubt.

Whether it’s developing resilience, mastering a new skill, or nurturing a healthier mindset, these dreams empower us to grow in ways that transform how we live, work, and connect with others. And each time we dream just a little bit bigger, we find that “good enough” was simply the beginning, not the end, of what we can achieve.

Dreaming of Who You Can Become

Have you ever dreamed of being a more resilient, open-minded, or self-assured version of yourself? Maybe there’s a skill you’ve wanted to master, a quality you’d love to develop, or a shift in perspective you’d like to make. No matter where you are on your personal journey, there’s always one more dream that can help you become the person you want to be.

Journaling is a wonderful way to explore these dreams, bringing clarity and direction to your personal growth goals. Use it to reflect on who you want to be, the qualities you want to develop, and the small steps that can lead to big change.

Here are a few journaling ideas to help you explore your next dream for personal growth:

Reflect on Qualities You Admire

  • Start by writing down a few qualities you admire in others—traits that inspire you, like courage, kindness, or perseverance. Think about how developing these traits could impact your life and how you might bring more of them into your daily routine.
  • Journal Prompt: Who are the people I admire, and what qualities do they possess that I’d like to cultivate in myself?

Identify Areas for Growth

  • Dreaming of a “better you” often means identifying where you feel limited or stuck. Consider an area of your life where you’d like to experience growth, whether it’s in communication, mindset, or habits. Reflecting on this area helps create a vision for who you’d like to become.
  • Journal Prompt: Where in my life am I feeling stuck, and what new qualities or skills could help me move forward?

Visualize Your Future Self

  • Imagine yourself six months or a year from now, having fully embraced this “one more dream” of personal growth. What are you doing differently? How are you thinking, feeling, or responding to challenges? Visualizing this future self can provide motivation and guidance.
  • Journal Prompt: If I were to fully embrace this dream, how would I describe my future self in six months? What daily actions support this growth?

The Journey of Becoming

The beauty of personal growth is that it’s a lifelong journey, and every step forward brings new insights and strengths. Embracing one more dream for your own development isn’t about chasing perfection but about progress. Every time you invest in yourself, you’re choosing to live more fully, with greater awareness and purpose.

Conclusion: Dare to Dream of Your Future Self

As you start this week, take a few moments each day to explore this “one more dream” for your personal growth. Your journal can be a safe space to imagine the qualities you want to cultivate, the changes you’d like to see in yourself, and the person you’re striving to become.

One more dream might be all it takes to begin a new chapter in your journey of growth. Here’s to discovering the next version of yourself, one word, one thought, and one dream at a time.

I grew up self-UNaware. Like all of us who suddenly realize that we weren't - we had an experience where the lightbulb went off - I have since then concluded two things: 1. young people in grade school, beginning first grade, would benefit from progressive, age-appropriate training in mindfulness as they will learn to notice thoughts that arise, i.e., become their own observers and monitors, and 2. they would also benefit from progressive, age-appropriate reflective journaling. Each student's mind would get practice in thinking, not only in noticing, observing, and monitoring. This would begin in first grade; they would dictate their responses to prompts and volunteers, their scribes, would record their words in beautiful, personalized journals produced by Nikie. NOW, someone reading this might think, "Well, this is a stupid idea." My thought - THIS could save our world as children would see that their minds and thoughts are valuable. IF YOU, like me, read the idea-packed novel by renown behaviorist, BF Skinner, WALDEN 2, you know we can't just hope children learn to value their own minds. They deserve group practice, i.e., using them in community!! My mom began a diary at the age of 7. I've read it.
