Reaching New Heights

On July 20, we mark the 54th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon Landing.

For this week’s Space to Village newsletter, we’re focusing on going boldly – to new heights for yourself, and maybe a new altitude for your organization.

Identify Microstresses and Confront Them

I said in the intro we would have some tips for getting you and your organization to new heights. Sometimes, as the storied bard Jimmy Buffett poetically said, changes in latitudes, changes in attitudes, are what you need to make a breakthrough.?

Also check out Adam Grant ’s TEDTalk on how to stop languishing.

Give Grace To Yourself And Others

Whether that’s literally going on a vacation or simply giving yourself some grace to work through a slump, my first piece of advice is to never compare yourself to anything other people are posting on social media. Social media is only one dimension of someone’s life, their successes, and it’s only what they’re allowing you to see about them.?

For more tips on this topic, check out this piece from HBR:

Celebrate Wins - Meaningfully?

I also am all about celebrating the wins, even when they’re small. Before you do it though, read the room.

Not everyone shares the same definition of celebration. Some folks are embarrassed by public praise, for example. Solicit feedback from your team about how they like to be recognized.?

Here are some ideas from Forbes :

What ideas do you have for inspiring the team or yourself? We love hearing from you - leave your thoughts below. And thanks for subscribing!
