Reaching New Heights: Journey of our 2 Interns to Core Team Members
A few months back, these two talented young minds started with us as interns, and now they have become an invaluable part of our team.
At Rooftop, we believe in building an environment that fosters opportunities and challenges so all our members can gain experiential learning and growth. Be it our interns or employees, we believe in their capabilities, and everyone has a chance to develop their skill set.
At present, around 40% of our core team members were interns at the beginning of their journey with us. Over time, they have upskilled themselves, turned challenges into opportunities, and?now they are the pillars of our organisation.
These two of our team members were able to climb up the ladder in a short span of time because of their persistent efforts to learn and grow.
“If you have the will, you can learn the skills.”
Introducing Harshi?
Harshi is someone who enjoys working and doesn’t rest until the work is done; without a doubt, she is one of our most dedicated team members.?
Recalling her first-time achievement at Rooftop, she says, “After getting the first artist on board, I felt immense self-satisfaction, and all my self-doubts were eased. The best part was, somehow, I was able to get five artist bookings on the same day. That gave a major motivation boost to continue learning and pave my way forward.”?
While others focus on learning core skills and miss out on improving their other competency skills, Harshi focuses on all aspects of her development. Sharing her learnings at Rooftop, here is what she mentions, “One of my major learnings during the internship phase was using Excel and Sheets. When you have a lot of data to handle, you need to be good at it. So I pushed myself to improve my Excel skills and speed.”
Sharing her team experience, she shares, “My team has been very supportive of me, especially Kartik Sir, Nimisha ma’am, and Rimjhim ma’am. They have helped me balance my work as I am going through some health problems.”
“I always want to achieve beyond my targets, get more workshops done and onboard more artists. It inspires me to work every day with more energy.”
Being in the Operations team, she very well understands her role and responsibilities and how the team’s work is important to stir the momentum of tasks for other teams. That’s why she also takes her work seriously while maintaining her work-life balance. “I now have a better hold on prioritising tasks instead of straining myself.”
Expressing her thoughts on her new role, she shares, “I feel happy joining the team with my new role. Working at Rooftop is an amazing experience as we work in unity, and we discuss and solve together. I also feel happy to see our CEO’s level of involvement in working with all team members and learn something from him every day.”
Finally, talking about her best experience, Harshi says, “I still feel happy when I remember the three days of Fam Jam 2022. Getting the opportunity to come to Jaipur was a big opportunity for me, and then enjoying the three days with the team are the best memories I have made with team Rooftop. I participated in fun activities, toured the city with my team, partied, and it was an amazing getaway.”

Introducing Sanya
Sanya is someone who believes in pushing herself beyond her comfort zone. She started her journey with us as a content writer intern, and over the months, she has evolved a lot in her roles and responsibilities.?
When we asked her about her key learnings, she said, "I started with content writing, and that is what I wanted to do, but so far, I’ve worked with almost all the departments in the organisation. I wouldn’t have applied for marketing in general, but I got the opportunities to learn many new things here.”
Expressing the changes she feels in herself, she says, “When you join as an intern, feeling that connection with the company is not easy. You complete the work assigned to you and your day is over. That’s how I used to feel initially. But now, I sit till 11 pm or even late because I feel the need to complete the work on the same day. It’s all because I feel the connection with the company.”
“Never say no to any new task because that’s how you gain experience, and you never know when it will help you.”
Talking about her everyday motivation to work, she spontaneously answered ‘work culture.’ She elaborated, saying, “The communication between the team is very nice, and I feel that affects how eager you are to work. Even if someone is at an upper position in the hierarchy, you respect them, but you don’t feel hesitant to talk to them, and they are approachable.”
“The unique thing at Rooftop is that we even talk with our CEO almost daily. In other workplaces, it’s common that the CEO is a big position, and the person is not easily approachable. But here, I know I can discuss any problem or ideas with Kartik Sir anytime, and it eases the communication process. Overall I would say the work culture is very different and nice here.”
She gets along with everyone in the team and tells us about her bond with everyone. “Most of my interactions happen with Sagar. Keeping aside my initial hesitation, I know I can freely talk to him and discuss things. Similarly, with Rimjhim Ma’am and Nimisha Ma’am, there wasn’t much communication between us earlier because my role was limited. However, I still feel comfortable and easy to connect with them after the increase in roles and responsibilities,” says Sanya.
Sharing her best experiences so far, she tells us, “All the three days I spent in Jaipur for the team meetup were amazing and beautiful. At night, we sat on the rooftop and talked about random things; there was music and a good environment. That was one of the most memorable experiences I have had with the team.”
Adding to her experience with the team, she says, “Startups are like communities. You don’t have 200-300 employees who don’t know each other or what’s happening in other teams. At Rooftop, we have morning meetings where we discuss and know what is happening. Besides the daily tasks' discussion, it’s also a nice ice-breaking session, and you interact with each other.”
Expressing her joy with her transition, she says, “It feels nice being a part of the core team. Earlier, the day would end at a certain time, and I waited for the next day; now, even if I have to pull a late work night, it’s fun. I feel like I have so far, and in a few months, it will be one year of association with this organisation.”
Sanya is very focused, and her goals reflect that in her. She says, “I want to work on the goals and ideas we discuss for the coming quarter and year in the meetings and see the company achieving them.”
Summing up her journey, she tells us, “ It has been very transformative. I didn’t see myself working on so many things if my seniors wouldn’t have asked me to work on them. I kept saying yes to every task they gave me, pushing my boundaries.”
Team Rooftop is delighted to have both of you continuing your journey with us.
