Reach out and touch me

Reach out and touch me

Networking. I used to think it was a dirty word reserved for vampiric, mercenary climbers. I thought it was only for extroverts and “squares.” Boy, was I wrong.

As you know, at Girlboss we believe in the power of the network. The truth is that Girlboss wouldn’t exist without a network. A finance guy introduced me to an attorney who introduced me to a book agent and, without ever having thought about writing a book before that single meeting, a book called #GIRLBOSS was born.

Two years ago, when I decided to start my second company, it was—you guessed it—a few angel checks from my network that got us off the ground. When the shit hits the fan and I need help from someone who’s been there? When no one else believes in me? When I just need an ear? My network. It’s those relationships that bridge the gap between the support you need and getting it. From my experience, you get what you need faster from people who are invested at some level in what you’re doing and have the context and knowledge to help you the most.

I’ve built an amazing network online—from fascinating entrepreneurs to technology wizards to people with just plain fat checkbooks. But the best relationships I’ve made go offline at some point. Sharing time IRL with someone is different. You share memories that just can’t be made online. And a different level of trust is built. And once that’s built, great people beget great people. Your network expands, and so on.

That’s what we’re doing here at Girlboss. We can meet on our digital network—and to take it to the next level, we take it offline. Or we meet at a Girlboss event and take it online to stay in touch. We want to give it all to you, as quickly and easily as possible, so you can accelerate your network beyond the speed of what’s been possible in the past.

Which is why we’re putting on our second annual Girlboss Retreat in Colorado Springs, CO. Three days of workshops, recentering experiences, and, of course, networking with women who share your dreams. I’ll be kicking it off with you all at a very special dinner. Make sure to get your tickets here, and I’ll see you in the wilderness!

Xx
