REACH OUT RESPONSE NETWORK

Please post & share

Hi all,

As many of you know, we are starting to recruit high school students to participate in individual interviews to share their thoughts about what they'd like to see in the team we're building. These interviews will take place via zoom and will be scheduled on a rolling basis throughout October and November. Participants will receive a $20 e-gift card. These interviews are for folks who live, go to school, or work in Toronto - Scarborough and Etobicoke are included, but York Region is excluded. The interviews are for youth ages 13-18 who have had any kind of experience with mental health challenges or mental health services.

I'm hoping you'll be able to distribute this call-out to your networks! For those of you who work with youth, it would be great if you could share with your clients and your agency. If any of you have young people in your lives (nieces, nephews, neighbours, friends, etc.), feel free to share this with them as well. For those of you who are young and still in contact with your old high school teachers, it would be great if you could forward this to them as well, if their schools are in Toronto.

I've attached a poster that you can print out, and here's a blurb that you can share if you're forwarding this info:

"The Reach Out Response Network is an organization dedicated to creating transformational change in mental health crisis response. We are partnering with the City of Toronto to develop a plan to build a non-police team to respond to mental health crises. Our teams will be available 24/7 across the city of Toronto, with immediate response times. They will be integrated into 911 dispatch, and they will be made up of folks from the communities they serve. Our teams will replace police response to most mental health crises.

We are looking for high school students (ages 13-18) to share your thoughts with us about what this new service should look like. We will be scheduling virtual interviews, via zoom, throughout October and November to hear about your experiences with existing services and what you'd like to see in a new service. Anyone who has used any kind of mental health service is welcome to sign up.

Interviews will last approximately an hour, and you're free to share as much or as little as you like with us. Any feedback helps, and will be provided to the city to inform the development of our new teams.

Students who participate in interviews will receive a $20 e-gift card to the retailer of your choice.

You can sign up for an interview here.
