REACH 2021-22 Graduation week in Nordic Innovation House, Palo Alto

REACH is a Silicon Valley-based incubator program designed to boost Nordic research-based tech projects and spin-outs with international ambitions and potential. Six months of On-the-job training program, including two 14-day acceleration parts (online fall 2021 and hybrid spring 2022) and five months of mentoring.

REACH teams are Nordic research-based startups or spin-out projects, typically from universities and research institutes that have:?Active founding team members, International ambitions, Unique technology, and Focus that fits the Silicon Valley ecosystem.

The program offers a way for teams to?target, accelerate and de-risk the execution of the commercialization project. During the program, they will identify, define and validate the path to realizing your technology’s commercial potential, sharpen your value proposition and pitch, and expand your professional network.

REACH 2021-22 program had its final, intensive week of workshops and mentor meetings in Palo Alto in early April. The last week focused on funding and investments themes, and future steps on growing the team or reaching a global presence. Eva Nahari, Principal at DNX Ventures gave an insightful talk about VC Dating.

The week ended with the grand finale, a Silicon Valley-style pitch night with an investor panel. Each team presented a 3-minute pitch, and got questions and feedback with some"hard love". We were excited to host a full house of our local tech ecosystem friends for the night.

Pitch Night Moderator: Chander Chawla brings a global perspective to technology and design. He has lived and worked in six countries in multiple sectors and functions within the hi-tech industry. He frequently keynotes on innovation, commercializing new technologies, scaling businesses, and seeing the unseen.?

Epatch. Cough is the most common symptom for which individuals seek medical advice. However, no cough monitor is currently the gold standard due to lack of either reliability or scalability. With our patented technology, Epatch from Oulu, Finland will become the gold standard for autonomously and remotely monitoring and analyzing cough data of in-/outpatients for, medical research, clinical trials and healthcare. Epatch improves the prediction and management of both acute and chronic respiratory diseases. Furthermore, thanks to Epatch’s multifunctionality, our ultimate vision is to build the entire ecosystem of remote health monitoring, providing affordable, diagnostically reliable, and holistic wireless monitoring and health data acquisition. FieldRobotiX is a young company from Northern Sweden working on technology that enables aerial autonomous inspection solutions and 3D mapping. The vision of the company is to develop innovative solutions that can rapidly and remotely map, navigate, and search complex environments to increase the overall safety and performance of the task. Paige scans children’s books for gender bias, by using modern natural language processing tools. By relying on expert validation, we provide an AI-powered human-centered tool, which can help publishers in producing more inclusive content while also increasing efficiency in the manuscript reviewing process. QT PIE specializes in attention computing in automotive driving by applying AI and eye-tracking to significantly improve the accuracy and efficiency of driving assessment in multiple verticals including healthcare, traffic authorities, automotive manufacturers, automotive insurance companies, and logistic fleets. In healthcare alone, the driving assessment market is estimated annually at 24 billion USD in our target countries and will grow with the rapidly growing elderly population (25% of the population aged above 65 by 2030). We already landed pilots with two hospitals and the Swedish traffic administration (Trafikverket - DMV of Sweden) and in discussion with Stanford to extend the pilot into the USA. Versiro develops an AI copilot that assists power producers in selling electricity in uncertain and volatile markets. The copilot enhances human decision-makers by considering uncertainty and a continuous data stream. Power producers can thus act faster, use resources more efficiently, and increase profits.
