Successful people understand the value of social currency. Whether we realize it or not, we are always trading in social currency. Did you know economists are saying that social currency is becoming more valuable than any piece of paper? According to a Google Snippet on Social Currency “The fact that 80% of the value of the average business is intangible. It's an astounding factoid that I use in the hope of awakening a realization in people how fundamentally our economy and our businesses have changed. We should be mindful of building up our social value because there exists a social bank and its currency is publicly traded daily. Reflect upon the people you call friends. Can you depend on them during an emergency or a personal tragedy? Will they be there for you and will you be there for them? The answer to this question will determine the quality of our life. It will determine our mental and physical health. 

What we say and do represent our values and our place in the digital ecosystem. Our online reputation quickly translates into our real world experience. We are judged by the people we associate with in the real world and the connections we keep on social media. Not just our relationships but our actions and words will determine our social value. 

Banks and credit agencies are now mining peoples social online reputation to determine their credit risk. In the blink of an eye our social value can plummet or it can rise. In business we are told that we have to add value and constantly look for ways to go the extra mile for our clients. The process of adding value is a form of building social currency. Now we are being asked to do it not only in the real world but also online. 

It is only with the cooperation of others that we can accomplish a Meaningful goal. Social capital is a new institution for creating social trust. When trust is created cooperation among strangers happens. This is the way that society is able to function and it is the way that real estate professionals can put food on the table and a BMW in their driveway. 

Beyond just seeking the services of a real estate professional clients commission services that benefit society. Conscience consumers demand the Realtor they chose bring social value to the table. The rise of the conscious consumer is not just a trend but the new way of life. 

Should a professional real estate agent capitalize on social value or just ignore it? Is it just a buzzword? Social value is the new currency that the world operates on. It is finite and once it is spent it is very hard to get back. It is like a ruined reputation that is hard to regain. Brands understand the importance of their social capital and are investing time and energy into growing a positive social reputation like never before. A real estate agents social credit score is more widely available to prospective clients than ever before. People will look you up on the internet before they decide to pick up the phone and call you. 

All real estate agents should consider an engagement strategy based on creating a positive online reputation that builds social capital.
