Re-turn Reports Record 3.5m Containers Returned On Bank Holiday Monday

Re-turn has reported that Ireland’s Deposit Return Scheme (DRS) saw its busiest day on Bank Holiday Monday with 3.5 million containers returned.
Over the entire long weekend, 9.2 million containers were returned – the most returned to date in a three-day period.
Yesterday, Tuesday 4 June, saw over 3 million containers returned.
The average daily return rate across the Bank Holiday weekend was 3 million.
These figures far exceed the 2 million containers returned in the entire month of February, the first month of the DRS.
Re-turn – the organisation implementing the scheme – has reported 164.9 million total containers returned to date.
Over Half Of Irish Consumers Are Concerned About Their Financial Situation – PwC
Over half (58%) of Irish consumers are concerned about their financial situation according to PwC 2024 Irish Voice for the Consumer Survey, published today.
The analysis of over 1,000 Irish consumers found that 58% of those surveyed are either ‘extremely’ or ‘very’ concerned about their personal financial situation.
This was an increase from 49% last year.
61% reported holding back on non-essential spending, while 40% cite inflation as the number one risk to consumer habits.
Respondents cited grocery prices as the most significant cause for increased spending.
BWG Foods Wins National Operational Excellence Award
BWG Foods was honoured at the annual Operational Excellence Awards on 30 May when its National Distribution Centre (NDC) won.
The company, which is one of Ireland’s leading retail and wholesale companies, won the Operational Excellence in Warehousing Award.

BWG’s team at the NDC serve its customer base with a wide range of ambient, fresh, chill and alcohol products.
