Business disruption can be a call to action. Yes, there are immediate, risk mitigation actions that must be taken. But disruption also unveils business vulnerabilities that have been festering under the surface. Customer relationships, supply chain weakness, internal work stream bottlenecks, talent challenges. All are exacerbated in a time of crisis.

If, as a leader, you were worried about any of these elements of the enterprise before COVID-19 came to visit, now is the time to retool. Add a retooling phase to your short term mitigation efforts. Re-imagine the business 12 months from now. Imagine coming out of this crisis stronger and with renewed competitive positioning.

Rally the team around a retooling effort that changes the game. Muster the courage to abandon the past. Relentlessly seek innovative ways to re-connect with customers. Re-think the supply chain to be more about revenue assurance than cost containment. Strengthen cross-functional collaboration and work stream flows. Do it. It will invigorate you and your people. It creates hope and focuses people on a promising future. Don't panic. Prepare.

Some companies will exit this crisis stronger than ever. Why not be one of them?
