Re-purposing and Re-imagining

Every beginning must have an end, and every end a beginning. Keeping this philosophy at helm, we've recently initiated a project to re-purpose waste yarn at Raj into meaningful projects. While some of the yarn will be seen as part of yarn bombing projects, across the country, the other is being sent to Khamir.

Khamir is a platform for the crafts, heritage and cultural ecology of the Kachchh region of Gujarat. Instituted after the earthquake of 2001, it is a space for engagement and development of Kachchh's rich creative industries. We've partnered with @RImagined, a brainchild of Shailaja Rangarajan, to promote conscious consumption of day to day materials.

The weavers at Khamir will use the waste yarn to create carpets. These will be sold to finance their wages and also encourage a younger generation to join in weaving. While a few pieces have been created, we hope that this endeavour fruitions to motivate a new generation of weavers.
