Our event entitled “Payments related regulations: State of P(l)ay & Expected Evolution” jointly organized with A&O Shearman Luxembourg took place on April 18th. It was a full house for our first ever event together!
?? First, Anne-Sophie MORVAN & Mrs Carole Schmidt-Bataineh broke down the latest key regulatory milestones, focusing therefore on #CESOP, #IPR, #PSD3, #PSR and #FiDA
?? Then, Ramzi Dziri , Adam Obadia with special guests Jean-Luc Barbier ( Banque Internationale à Luxembourg (BIL) ) and Nenad Ilic, CFA ( PwC Luxembourg ) took the stage to discuss all things #CESOP, and notably main requirements and challenges, as well as the points discussed during last week’s CESOP Expert Group, in Brussels
?? Claude MEURISSE and Andrei Costica took over to explain what the #InstantPayments regulation was all about, and how PSPs should prepare from it. The experts focused on new obligations and especially on #VerificationofPayee.
?? Finally, Anne-Sophie and Andrei discussed the #PSD3, #PSR, #FiDA package. Andrei tackled the PSR anti-fraud measures as well as liabilities, while Anne-Sophie focused on FiDA, or the switch from #OpenBanking to #OpenFinance.

→ [PAYMENT #FRAUD EMERGING TRENDS & HOW VoP CAN HELP]
European Banking Authority (EBA) recently released an opinion paper focusing on fraud payment types and patterns, but also on the latest anti-fraud measures established in #FiDA, #PSR and #PSD3.
The EBA notably welcomes the #VerificationofPayee obligation, introduced in the #InstantPaymentsRegulation and consisting in a mandatory IBAN-name check prior to any type of credit transfer.

Several weeks after the entry into force of the #InstantPaymentsRegulation, the ABBL hosted a deep dive session, focusing on this very topic, on April 23rd.
Ramzi Dziri took the stage to focus on the #VerificationofPayee obligation, highlighting the need for PSPs to start their #VoP projects as soon as possible, and breaking down the numerous advantages of the Payee Verification Platform provided by LUXHUB.
Our CEO, Claude MEURISSE, then further discussed the topic in a round table which featured local and international experts.
