Each season brings a fresh start, a time to reset and rebalance priorities. As an advisor, the autumn is a great time to sit down with each player on your team to ensure they all know the direction you’d like to go with your business. The results will be evident when the entire group is onside with the plan.

 

Addressing the unique qualities of individuals is imperative to success. Pinpoint the goals, both personal and professional, for each person. Determine if they are on track to accomplish those goals. If not, how can you influence, inspire, and guide them back on a path to success?

 

Once team members set milestones, employ a system to quantify their accomplishments. It may be financial for some, and others may have a certain number of referrals in mind or client retention numbers.

Rewards for meeting and exceeding goals are a strong motivator for many people, and your team members are no exception. An off-site event such as a wellness retreat, seminar or workshop session, or just a day out for lunch is a positive step in reinforcing solid bonds and healthy working relationships.

 

Don’t underestimate the importance of praise. You may think your team members know how proud you are of their work and contribution to the team, but never take it for granted. Everyone likes a pat on the back for their efforts, so tell them and show them they’re appreciated.

 

Create A Four-Month Plan:

  • Assess the next four months on every level, from a macro to a micro perspective.
  • Review your plan and have it ready in advance to relieve last-minute stress.
  • Re-assign and re-delegate tasks and goals if necessary.
  • Isolate distractions and pitfalls in advance, wherever possible, to avoid missing targets.
  • Include the entire team in decisions. 
  • The holidays will be here sooner than you think. Plan lunches and parties early.
  • Ask each member how they can best assist the others on the team.
  • Meeting goals as a team is motivating. Find strategies to work together and enjoy the rewards as a team.

 

New and exciting challenges are a surefire way to optimize the strength of your business. Set bars higher, plan and initiate fantastic future goals, and watch as your team meets and exceeds those challenges.
