VOTE!

The 2024 General Election is underway, with early voting across all 50 wards of Chicago happening now.?In addition to voting on federal, state, and local government positions, Chicagoans will be voting on the Chicago School Board of Education and the retention of 75 circuit court judges and two appellate judges.

Chicagoans can see their early voting site by ward here. Everyone the United States can quickly determine their polling place here.

Chicago Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights provides election day resources via the Election Protection program, which leverages the legal community’s knowledge of election law to combat disenfranchisement. On November 5th, voters can call?866-OUR-VOTE?for comprehensive voter information and to report problems at their polling site.?

Whether through early voting, vote-by-mail, or voting on Election Day, we urge all eligible citizens to go out and vote!

LoCC in at AMPT

In conjunction with our values of community & collaboration, AMPT: Advancing Nonprofits & the Leaders of Color Collective are combining our previous November events to come together as a community for LoCC in at AMPT!

On November 7th from 5:30 - 8:30 PM, LoCC in at AMPT will take the Leaders of Color Collective & Nonprofit Sharespace’s missions of community, support, and resources for BIPOC nonprofit leaders and combine them for maximum connection & impact.

The 10 year anniversary of the Centre of Investigative Journalism (CIJ) Logan Symposium is happening on November 14th and 15th in London.?Source! brings together some of the most courageous and innovative new investigative reporters and outlets in the world to forge alliances against official censorship, surveillance and deceit – and to talk candidly about the landscape for the profession and its future prospects.

This year, CIJ is partnering with?Freedom of the Press Foundation in New York, Disclose in Paris, Reporters United in Athens, The Public Source in Beirut and Declassified in London to tackle issues such as how best to protect sources and whistleblowers, deal with government harassment and gagging orders, and make the most of exciting new investigative tools and methods.

The Ellsberg Whistleblower Award

The Wau Holland Foundation, Whistleblower Network, taz Panther Foundation, and The Reva and David Logan Foundation (collectively known as the founding organizations) have come together to establish the International Ellsberg Whistleblower Award.

With the International Ellsberg Whistleblower Award, our aim is to acknowledge the challenges whistleblowers and their supporters face, and to focus public discourse on the wrongdoing they have brought to light. The award is meant to demonstrate that safeguarding and supporting whistleblowers is imperative and in the best interest of society. It is intended to encourage others to follow the example of Daniel Ellsberg and his family.

Mr. Daniel Everette Hale has received the inaugural Ellsberg Whistleblower Award, following the personal wish of Daniel Ellsberg himself. Daniel Everette Hale is a former National Security Agency (NSA) intelligence analyst who informed the public about the severe grievances, civilian casualties, and governmental misconduct regarding the US drone warfare. His whistleblowing raised critical awareness about the balance between national security, the public’s right to know, and ethics in modern warfare.?
