Biomimicry is the practice of learning from, and then emulating, life’s genius to solve design challenges and create more sustainable designs. Biomimicry is a design process, a branch of science, a problem-solving method, a sustainability ethos, a movement, a stance toward nature, and a new way of viewing and valuing biodiversity.?
In this webinar we’ll start by getting an overview of what biomimicry is, and why people practise the concept.?Gama Sibanda?from?BiomimicrySA?will then share examples where biomimicry has been utilised across the world, going in depth with design and engineering applications.?Jane Lourens?will then give us a brief overview of the Biomimicry Ethos and Life's Principles and how this relates to living systems thinking within the built environment. Lastly?Jess Berliner?from?Learn Biomimicry?will provide a guide to starting the Biomimicry learning journey, what it entails, as well as how people can get connected with the local and global Biomimicry network.?
